Hi,
Is Norton falsely reporting or what??

I transferred files to my new XPS, via an external hard drive from another computer running NAV Corporate 2003. I updated manually and I scanned the files in advance. No viruses were reported.
On the new computer each time I run a scan with Norton 2005, it tells me I have the W32.Klez.H@mm virus in 27 compressed files. Ironically, they are an old address book file, as well as, old email folder.
It's reporting the virus found in the following:
ofCBS.exe
Setup.exe
SRC.Pif
White%20Rose(1)
I scanned the drives.folders and files repeatedly, Norton reports the same thing each and every time. Subsequently it reports it could Not successfully Quarantine the files, nor Delete them. Finally it notifies me my computer is still infected.
I subsequently downloaded the Symantec 'klez removal tool'. I turned off 'system restore' and checked to make sure no files were hidden etc, and ran it in safe mode. It reported the virus was on NOT found on my computer. I next went in and examined the registry for any 'wink' files etc. I couldn't find anything indicating the tell tale presence of klez.
I next installed McAfee's "Stinger" tool specifically designed for this and a handful of others but it reported 'No viruses were found' on my computer.
I next ran "Bit Defender" 'Klez removal tool', it as well reported NO virus found.
I went back and repeated each scan several times.
Could it be the klez virus was already previously deleted from the old system files?? We had so many viruses in the past couple years but none of the logs were saved. Other than this.. could it be a false report??
Although it is reporting them in the folders where you'd expect to likely find the klez virus. I'm baffled!!
I don't pretend to be a genius but thankfully you are indeed "The Brain" !!!
Thanks everyone, as always!!
best,
bookhead
