I've had something recently occur that threw me off completely. I ran an anti-spyware protection program (adaware) and removed some spyware form the system. Then ran an anti virus, noti\ced that it said it had some viruses but couldn't fix them or removed them for some reason, wouldn't even quarantine. So, installed norton, updated it and inside of a monute or so the virus was found and gone. Let it finish the run, then defragmented and restarted the system. I went from having 62 percent hard drive space to 81. I've got a 40 gig, about 37 useable, it went from having about 25 gigs open to a little over 30. Where in the hell did htat come from? Never had that happen before. It did it to my external hard drie too. Degragged it and ended up with like 62 to 78 percent open on a 120 gig hard drive. That's alot all things considered. Could it be that I've got some sort of virus that I'm still not detecting? It seems to have leveled out so far, gained no more space. My computer doesn't seem to be adversley affected by it. Any thoughts form anyone that are reasonable? If' you're darth beavis it doesn't have to be reasonable.
Oh yes, one thing I should throw in is that I tried for a while to install half life 2 from the cd. It had multiple errors and came down to just not loading from that. Eventually I loaded straight off the internet with no errors. It works fine. However, I last alot of space in the dozen or so attempts to install. Even after running unistalls on it several times I still lost it. Now allo f a suddeni t is almost back to what I originally had?!?!???
