Sager updated my bios, now my PCMCIA HD won't be recognized

Perhaps the two things aren't related, but it's the only change that happened. I sent my 8886 to sager to fix a screen short. They did it--and bonus: it says on my work order that they upgraded the bios too. Wow, such great customer service.... but now my machine won't recognize the PCMCIA hard drive I use.

The first time I noticed was when I tried to back up ms money. The drive was in there as normal, but for some reason it wasn't being recognized. I then went through the "add hardware wizard" and added it. Then I saw it and was able to back up. That would be the last time--now I can't even add it as my machine does not list it as one of the installed components.

That sux b/c I use this to back up important files. Any ideas how to fix it?

Did you reset default settings in the bios after you flashed it? Check to see if there's a setting in the bios to enable/disable the PCMCIA. I can't remember off the top of my head.

It would also seem if this is a result of the BIOS upgrade done by Sager, they would be responsible for it. The PCMCIA is an integral part of the machine and should work.

If Adam's suggestions don't yield success, I'd be on the phone, email and fax to SAGER pronto.

Thanks Adam, I'll try that out. I've never really messed w/ the BIOS except to enable SPDIF output a looong time ago. These Sagers are kinds fire-and-forget, ya know....

I did email Sager. They want me to test the HD out in another computer first to see if it's it. Seeing as it already worked in the Sager once, I'm pretty sure it works. But I'll try it out.
