Yes Instant Power DVD is standard installed on this system (Uniwill). But because of the lag of a manual not working yet.

I will do my best to make a review. Making pics as well. Have to install new drivers and software as well. Will start this week with several benchmarks.

Ok my first impression in short:

Delivery: Minimum -> Lappy+AC / CDRoms: Intel Wireless ; Uniwill drivers ; PowerDVD Xp ; Nero OEM ; Instant ON. Missing -> manual (can dl on uniwill)
Personal impression: ok

Screen: WXGA 1280x800 ; No dead pixel ; good viewing angels all sites ; good brightness ; Don't see the backlights through the LCD ; Colors very crispy; respons is good.
DVD playback: without hackup on delivered drivers.
3D gaming:not played extensive yet. Playing WWII Sniper looks good and plays well.
Personal impression: great

HDD: 80 GB 5400rpm is fast and without noise. HDD not hot.
Personal impression: great

8x DVD +/-RW DL (NEC): Had to reinstall the hardware. Now it responds well and every burning try was a success. You hear the drive now and then but not realy a noise.
Personal impression: great

2200B/G: After dl latest software and driver the wireless works fine on my Asus WL500G Router.
Personal impression: good

Ports/Interfaces work as should be.
Personal impression: good

Sound: Like all notebooks it's no boombox. The sound is ok but there is no seperate hardware sound adjustment possible (only by function keys). The sound is very good with headphone.
Personal impression: fine

CPU: Pentium 1,6 Dothan+1x512MB runs smooth and fast in my opinion although my desktop with P4 3.0 HT 800FSB+2x512MB dual channel is a little faster.
Personal impression: great

Keyboard: sturdy and no missing keystrokes. Like the Mitac 8050 the \ is 2x on the keyboard. The keyboard feels very good and the keys are just the right size.
Personal impression: great

Touchpad: sometimes the mousepointer follow your finger when leaving the touchpad. This is quite annoying. I will look for adjustments in the software. The response of the 2 buttons are good as well the scrolling part of the pad.
Personal impression: fine

Ati mobile 9700 (m11) 256MB: What can i say here else then its a great GPU. I will install the omega drivers soon and will run tests and benchmarks then.
Personal impression: great

TV tuner: is in backorder
TV-out: later more

InfraRed: not available.
Bleutooth: In the case is an 'hidden' usb port in which you can install an USB dongle.

Overall thoughts:
The system boots fast (approx. 12 sec.) and it's a fast machine for sure. I expect after tuning the software more, it's still on the standard install of win XP Pro, the system will gain more speed. The system overclock 10% standard and it runs rock solid so far. Will investigate the Bios if I can turn of the overclock there.

The case looks nice but could have been more sturdy. Mobility of the lappy is not what you look for when you have to carry it the whole day around. In real life this lappy looks better then on the pictures.

You'll get a lot of value for the price of this lappy (Euro 1.299,-)

Well this is in short my first impressions of this new lappy. I will try to make a more detailed review + pics asap. But it takes time and so far I'm playing around with it. Heat isn't a issue had it a whole night on my lap without problems. I will see what happens when I play a demanding game for a long time..keep you posted on this.

Hope you have more info now and if you have question I'll try to answer them quickly.

Greets

I think this laptop is up there on most people list for the reasons

1) It is less than 7lbs, making it portable
2) 15.4 WSXGA Wide-Screen TFT Display 1680x1050 Pixels. Sharp, crisp, screen
3) Fairly decent neutral design, making it very attractive to most people
4) Nice Video Card and extra video ram for DOOM 3 w/ATI9700 (M11) 256MB VRAM NON -Shared
5) Made by Uniwill, a very popular ODM brand known for their qualities and products
6) Clean simple interior design, similar to the Asus MB6NE series.
7) Thin and decent form factor

So, this is one nice lappy. Now only I could get it in Ferrari RED!

Just curious, RJTECH offer a barebone version. So why did you order a 40GB HD when you have 60GB waiting at home? Same goes with the memory.

I just bought one today, dont get to use it untill the 14th (birthday present), i got to use the one in the shop, though, i got to run 3d mark on it, straight out of the box no new drivers (i think in battery saver mode i dont know, it was pluged in but i think i read somewhere that it performs slightly better if you change some settings in bios). but anyway is score somthing like 10 500 in 3d mark 2001, and something close to 2950 in 3d mark 2003. the thing that i disliked the most about it was the touch pad, i don't know if it was set up badly, or i just suck and need plenty of practice (which i am sure tha i will get).

The set up i got was:
1.7 ghz
1 Gig of ram
256Mb radeon 9700
80Gb hard drive (they said 7200rpm but i dout it, Can tell me how to check, i couldn't tell in device manager)
targus backback
xp pro
and all the other stuff

think a review would be good?

it's going to be a long 2 days wait.........

I don't get mine until Thursday of Next Week...
I don't think a 7200RPM 80 gig exsists....
Nice specs, Similar to mine,
except I cheaped out, got a 1.6 Dothan, 60gig 7200rpm (and a 40 gig Self Powered External) And will have a gig of RAM, just not certain which is the best laptop ram to buy at the moment.

Can't wait for the reviews

I was considering the Sager 4750-v and the Uniwill 258KAO, leaning towards an AMD 64 chip. But now that I see this system, I can't wait to hear more. I've started thinking about wait and cost and although every configuration I've tried puts it at or above the of a 4750, it still lighter. After reading Rustica's review of the 258KAO, I pretty much gave up on that unit with her. So I'm curious to see if this temp problem is a trend across Uniwill's systems, or if the Centrino will keep the temp down.

Also I might start another thread but any one have any opinions (good or bad) of RJtech? I'm having some strange issues with there website but I like what they have to offer.
