As you can see, the price is very close, i just don't know which pc would be the best buy~
I personally own a dell pc and am very satisfied with it, it hasn't had any major problems so i know i can trust dell, but the alienware sounded good as well.

I went to alienware.com and saw their comparisons with 700m and they had a leg up on a few features...

4-in-1 Memory Card Reader
Integrated FOUR Speakers for improved multimedia performance
Instant-On button featuring Powercinema
Dedicated button for Silent Mode or high-performance mode option

BUT, I like dell's free printer offer, that's pretty sweet!

Thank you!

Dell's printers are pretty worthless, so I would even bother using it.

You could save a whole lot of money by going with the 700m. First, buy the 1GB of RAM from someone else (I suggest Crucial, and second, wait for a good deal to come around, like a 20% coupon.

Dang, i guess dell printers suck...
yeah, i heard how dell really overprices their RAM.

thanks wooster!!

Each time I spec the AW Sentia against the 700m the price price comes out about the same or about $100 difference.

Put the price difference towards the case mod and the Sentia's Power Cinema.

It's so strange how the sentia didn't have that great of a video card coming from alienware...it like disappoints me.

If it had a better card, i think i would easily choose the sentia over the 700m
But i hear good things about both laptops but 700m seems to be what i'm leaning towards.

some dell folks tell me that dell service is much greater than alienware...iunno how great alienware takes care of their customers, i just know they make some amazing pc's

how does ur sentia run?? any problems?? is the screen brightness and clarity good? is it loud?? sorry for so many questions...i'm just curious about the pc

My sentia is revision 1, and is not the same one that you are seeing on AW's site. The specs are the same but the new case is smaller and comes with 12.1 wide screen.

My Sentia runs very quiet. The screen on mine is 14.1 which is clear and bright at the native resolution. My last laptop was too hot on the lap and very short on battery life, which is why I started looking for Centrino.

Then I found my Sentia...

I like the Power Cinema option of the new Sentia. I'm not sure if i would use it for DVD, but it would be nice to set it up as a Linux boot and not just for DVD.

I like the placement of one of the USB port which accomodates the optional USB blue tooth.

Its because Dell rapes you on the RAM. I just checked their site, and they charge you $400 to upgrade from 1 stick of 256MB to 2 sticks of 512MB.

I would also recommend downgrading to the 1.6GHz processor. Unless the laptop is plugged in, they all run at 600MHz for the majority of the time anyways.

so if i bought my own RAM and installed it into the 700m, then would that be my best buy?
Yup
Yeah, buying RAM from a third party is the best way to go with Dells. Like I said before, Crucial is a good way to go. I don't think I have heard of anyone who has had a problem with Crucial RAM, and its pretty reasonably priced. Here is the RAM you would want to buy for the 700m.

And don't worry, it won't void your warranty.
