about eurocom

Hi everyone ^^

while surfing for 6800 go infos I've founded out Eurocom, a companie that has a clevo 9860/7700 system and which have a service point in my city (montreal, canada) which REALLY appeals me since I wouldn't have to pay 100$ shipping if it was to break up to send it to the States and it would be MUCH quicker to receive.

now, I haven't been able to dig much information about the CS/warrenty of Eurocom... anyone have one and experienced their CS?

I'm currently toying with the idea of getting it in canada for best CS and return if I have to but I don't know much about Eurocom.

thx for your time ^^

The comments look okay, though the ratings don't look so hot. It doesn't seem to have had enough ratings for them to be worth considering. It seems Eurocom isn't very popular.

:-/

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I was surfing the site and found their policies for dead pixels...

Quote:
EUROCOM will replace an 800x600 LCD panel under warranty for 10 or more "missing" or "burnt" pixels.

EUROCOM will replace a 1024x768 LCD panel under warranty for 15 or more "missing" or "burnt" pixels.
imagine on a 1680x1050 screen O.o

well.... even if they have a service depot in my city, I'll never be able to handle THAT MUCH dead pixels before a replacement... and I tought that Dell was bad with their 6 dead pixels policy... lol

that pretty much ruled them out of my list...

Call them up or email them. The couple times I've talked to them (regarding price matching and pixel policy) they were very reasonable (ie. they'll give you a better deal than what the website says, both in terms of price and pixel policy).

Eurocom way too expensive

Why do people buy at eurocom.ca, they are way to expensive, I have found that configuring a laptop with pct or discountlaptops or even sagernotebooks, and then paying the shipping and even up to 14 percent tax its still cheaper than buying from eurocom.

Check out directpc.ca if you absolutely want a supplier in canada, and make sure to have the canadian flag clicked on the site, it changes for no apparent reason some times

Here is the price for an AMD64 3400, 2 gigs of RAM, 60gig@7200 rpm drive, windows xp home, internal wireless, and all the other generally standard stuff, plus eurocom have the full 15% tax unless you are a business, where as directpc have only the 7% tax. I have factored in a US$150 shipping and 15% tax into the sagernotebook pricing.
(I would imagine similar differences for the 9860, I just happen to be tracking the price of the 4750)

directpc.ca CAN$3648
eurocom.ca CAN$6121
sagernotebook CAN$3749

(exchange rates from xe.com)

Of note is that eurocom is selling 2gigs of ram for CAN$1660 at a speed of only PC2700, this seems like kind of an error to me, but its been like that for months now.

ANyway if my numbers are of go ahead and tell me, its pretty stupid that you can live just over the border and prices jump up this friggin high.

When I talked to a sales rep last year, he agreed to price match a comparable system from PC Torque + 250CDN. I thought that was very reasonable. His reason for the high prices at Eurocom is that they are the Clevo's R&D division, so incur higher costs.

Regardless, it pays to shop around, and sometimes, it pays not to take a website at face value...
