DHL Doesn't know where my 700m is....!?!?!

Well, the package shipped on 11/30, and thats the last time my new 700m was scanned in their system. As of tonight, 12/6 at 11:05 pm, there has been no updated info on my shipment.

I noticed that the tracking info wasn't updating, so I called DHL yesterday to check on it. The rep said that the package would arrive today before 5pm. That didn't happen! When I called again today, they said that the package was delayed one day, but when I asked him where the package was, or on what truck, he couldn't give me an answer.

So, as of now, I have $1500 worth of laptop lost somewhere in DHL space, or stolen by any employee...etc, and they don't even know where it is. When I asked the rep how he could know it was only delayed one day, but not know where the package was, he couldn't provide an answer......

I understand sometimes shippments get delayed, but come on....no update in tracking, and not knowing where the truck/package is..... This is pissing me off!!

i warned all those whose order was to ship after 11/15 that my colleagues were going to intercept all 700m laptops.

dhl for some reason doesn't put all that info online when u try to track it, just shows when it departed and when it arrives @ the destination. UPS on the otherhand is really good about showing everytime it's scanned so you know exactly what city it's in

dont worry man. if it dont come get bbb on dhl and dell :P and get a new one.

u need to calm down with BBB it isn't there for every little problem that happens. Dell will be responsible for sending you a new one

Ah, this is good to know. I'm crossing my fingers that its not stolen. Rep said it would be delivered 1st thing tomorrow morning. I guess we'll see.

bbb ain't the end all, ya'll. if you paid for shipping, i'd definitely get that refunded by dell. if it was free, oh well...just remember the ship dates are approximates. anyways, complain to dell and push the issue. remember BBB isn't on your side..you are your best advocate.

I had the exact same problem with my i9100. I had to send my 9100 replacement back to Dell via Airborne/DHL. I have been getting calls from Dell for the past three days to know where the laptop is. I contacted Dell headquaters in TX and told them the situation. After 6 hours they call me back to tell me that they DHL has lost the shipment

I bought it on ebay. *doh* (too good of a price to pass up) It still come with factory warranty, facotry sealed packaging...etc.

DHL, if it's anything like Pilot Air Frieght (an unknown, don't ask), probably puts it's packages on another, larger carrier for a cut price, like Fed Ex. You'll see these long lines of smaller shipping company trucks waiting at the gate as Fed EX loads these 3rd party packages on their planes (Fed Ex has the best and least air space restrictions of any company). So packages are scanned once by DHL, then DHL picks them up from Fed Ex (or whoever. Well, likely Fed Ex) and scans them again. There is no hub scanning because Fed Ex just puts 'em on the plane and away they go!

Don't fret. Your package is on the DHL docks. It's not misplaced(well, it is). Take heart my good man, and look forward to your new purchase!

ouch that sucks. well. ill pray for you tonight :P

well, then that is an entirely different story. mind me asking what the auction number was?

also, the factory warranty ain't guaranteed, b/c it has to be transferred to you either by the original owner or if the original owner gives you all the information, you can do it yourself. go to dell site and type in warranty transfer. if you are upgrading warranty, do a search on this site, i went through the same issue. then it's really up to dell if they will transfer the warranty to you or not. haven't heard anyone say they wouldn't, but you never know when dell is going to change a policy if you bought from ebay or something. so don't be blaming dell if you suddently get a lappie without a dell warranty.

Before I got on this forum and saw other ways to get great discounts from dell, this auction price was the best I could find. With an extra 512 of ram and an 8 cell battery, I paid $1250 shipped.

I talked to the seller. He said that no warranty info was ever filled out for the machine, so it wouldn't be a problem. He also said if Dell gave me any trouble, he'd help me with the transfer.

Here is the DHL Airbill # 23940325356

Thanks for the advice and pick-me-ups guys. I'm hoping/praying for the best!

warranty info is part of the invoice, there is nothing to fill out unless you transfer. if you go to the warranty transfer, you can see the info needed. he can do it or you can do it...but he may not be willing to give you the info...also remember if you upgrade to a warranty and there are credits for upgrading, that dell has to credit the original purchaser...so take that into consideration when talking to dell to have them just deduct credit from the upgrade price. he can actually transfer the warranty now on line, and then you can call dell to see if it go transferred in your name. get the service tag number and original customer number and order number from the guy to check that info with dell. once it transfers, you will get a new customer number for the computer.

don't expect the service tag to show up online until 3 weeks or more from the original invoice date.

well at least he's sold alot of stuff and has a good rating..although i don't like the fact that he lists the item being in LA but it is actually in oregon. at least if you paid through paypal, he's got a $1000 buyer protection, so that's good. sounds like seller is square up.

did you get 512MB on top of the 2dimm 512 from the auction? the additional 8 cell on top of the 4cell?

well, dhl shows it is still in transit, since it went ground. i wouldn't worry about it unless it doesn't show up by thursday.

I once had a repair part for a tv shipped to me overnight via DHL and somehow they lost my package. One month later, it was delivered to my house opened and resealed. Someone probably tried to steal it and found the stuff inside was useless to them. DHL never gave me a reason why it got lost or why it was opened. I'll never use them as a carrier again.
