8600 for $149 more than Inspiron 1000

I had originally ordered the 1000 $999, then cancelled and ordered the 1150 $1049, then cancelled and ordered the 5160 $1149 & cancelled...Finally ordered the 8600 $1149 after saving $474. Have to really dig to get the best deals on Dell.com, otherwise you get barebones and high prices. I just hope the 8600 is all it's said to be.

Could you post some pictures? You said it was a bit slow. In what way exactly? My sister has an i1150 and it has the same processor but only 256MB RAM and it runs without any problems or slowness (well, it ain't as fast as my 8600, but its not slow either). Thanks.

Enjoy it!

I'm enjoying my 1000 and don't find it slow. Of course, I'm not running 10,000 entry spreadsheets either. I got the 15", 40 gig with 1350 wireless card for $711 and it's a hell of a computer for the money.

The display is as excellent as the speakers are foul. I put in another 256 of Crucial and have had no problems doing anything I want to do (except editing pictures).

I'm so impressed I plan to get a 9200 and get rid of my desktop completely. What's all this about a 9300?

So tell me should I get another laptop or keep my 1150
