not sure what processor to get

ok... i'm looking into buying a laptop computer and this is basically what i will be using it for:

- I'm an engineering student so cad work and some of other types of computer programing will be used.

- I'm not a heavy gamer, but I would like to get into playing some games again.. mainly first person shooters... i'm not overly concerned with being able to play with the highest resolution at perfect speeds etc..

- I am going to be moving it around some and i know that pentium 4 and AMD powered laptops are generally heavier.. 6-8 pounds would be fine.. i'm not looking for a 12 pound beast.

- And i'm not going to be sitting on top of a remote mountain somewhere trying to play high-demanding games... therefore battery life isn't a huge issue

Anyway, let me know what you think between P4, AMD, and Centrino (I am leaning towards Centrino right now)

also and reviews on Hypersonic pc Systems and Thunderbox would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!!!!

Either Athlon64 or Centrino.

Emphasis on Power = Athlon64
Emphasis on Thin / Light = Pentium - M

Though, there are pretty thin and light Athlon 64 laptops like the Acer Ferrari, and Powerful Pentium - M laptops like the PowerNoteBooks PowerPro 5:6

AMD chips have more and higher quality FPUs, so those might help in scientific applications. Just something to think about.
