For the most part I agree with that statement (unless it's taken to an illogical extreme), which is why I went for the centrino solution to triple my battery life.

Congrats on your new purchase!! I've had mine for 3 weeks and still smile everytime I get on it

Really, have you played games? Done anything really intensive? How does it compare? Is it lightweight? How is the screen compared to other brands? What's the case like (is it a quality case?)

Alright the 8890 is the old hummer of Laptops, can do anything but no gas mileage. The M60 is the Porsche SUV, can do everything pretty well. But how often do you need to go over a 16 inch curb? Thats why we got the M60

I like that comparison Loki. I just test drove the Porsche SUV on Saturday and it was great. Tons of power and we went over a 6 inch curb. I don't want to get off topic.

This is what I want the M60 owners to do:

Can you do the Unreal Tournament 2003 Flyby test?

If you can, run it as these settings: 1024x768, 32-bit color/textures, no AA/8xAF

This will give us some way to compare to the techtv listing located here: http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/p...489509,00.html

Come on, we really need some pics of this beauty. I would host them but i am not home. Maybe somebody else can? Or email them to us in one forward? I mean theres only four of us on this topic and the debating one.... that hrana started

Alright a little off topic, did the Porcshe do the little rasing and lowering thing with the suspension?

jyoung, will you please run those tests (Graphics settings: 1024x768, 32-bit color/textures, no AA/8xAF) on "Unreal Tournament 2003" Flyby on the m60 for us?

Pretty please?

I think you should wait for the pricing on the 8890 but I think you made the right decision with the m60. You may be right that the DVD-R drive may have been better than the 7200 rpm hard drive... maby you can pick one up at a reasonable price on ebay.

Wow...

The FX Go 5600 SPANKED the m10p in that test...
Anyone know if the M60 will be able tp be upgraded with that beauty?

Well, my understanding is that the Go700 is just a reworked version of the FX Go5600...
Oh ok, with the card that the M60 has im surprised no one has looked at it for games

Anyone have a link with the download? (keep in mind I don't have the game so I might have to have some kind of utility bundled with a demo or something??)

One nice little addition to UT2003 demo is that it has a built-in benchmark utility. You can find the benchmark in the system subdirectory for the game after it installs. The file is appropriately named 'benchmark.exe'. Run this file, select the resolution you want to benchmark, and it will go through 4 different demos, 2 are "flyby" and 2 are "botmatch" demos. The flyby demos give you an idea of how high frame rates would be without bots, while the botmatch demos give you an idea of what kind of fps you can expect while actually playing the game.

Well because of the TechTV article showing off some benchmarks for the new and upcoming Alienware (with both M10 and Go5600 versions), I decided to go ahead and run the UT2003 flyby and botmatch real world benchmarks on my M60 to see how it compared.

Here is the reference article to look-up the benchmarks on the Alienware and other machines... http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/...3489509,00.html

All tests were in 1024x768 32 bit------------noAA/8xAF

Flyby w/ no OC:-------------95 fps
Flyby w/ OC:----------------101 fps

Botmatch w/ no OC:--------58 fps
Botmatch w/ OC:------------61 fps

I remember when i bought a dell, i got me a desktop, and a day later i decided to change to a laptop........when i called, they said that it shipped already, and i made it a point that i needed a laptop more for school......... they offered me $200. off just to change my mind.....it was enticing. However, my need for a laptop was too great......so i declined.........

Is there any way that one of you with the M60 can post benchmarks using 3DMark 2001 and 2003? I would really appreciate it.

This is the only notebook I am looking at thus far that meets exaclty what I want (the newest generation of video cards + Pentium-M processor).

Thanks again for any help. It really is appreciated.

Nevermind, I just found the benchmarks here.

http://sagerforums.com/showthread.ph...5&pagenumber=7

Those seem really good....actually better than the regular GeForce FX 5600 Go video card on the Toshiba 5205-S705 (the other laptop I am looking at).

For another question..... How long did it take from the time you ordered from Dell to actually receive it? I need to have it by August 27 at the latest, so I need to know if that is possible. Thanks so much.

Nice performance!!!

I am soooo happy to be seeing those scores.

... On second thought, we are running a lower powered laptop than what alienware is using for their score of 103.4. But we are coming pretty darn close. Yes have the Alienware Radon 9600 beat!!!!

Awesome, thank you so much for doing this.

Can I ask how you are overclocking (what program)? Also, by how much (memory and core speeds)? And is it stable?

I got the 1.6GHZ P-M, but I'm wondering if I should have gone 1.7. The 1.7 had a +$300 premium, but since clock speed is considered a fraction of the benefit as related to a P4 (so, 100MHZ is like 400MHZ in P4 terms)...

I wonder if 400MHZ would have been worth $300...
