Recommend me a laptop - Page 2

I was hoping for a price drop in january, I might not be getting the latest and greatest, but I'll being paying less for last month's latest and greatest.

Right Now I'm plagued by ati cards. The cl56 would be sweet, if it didn't have an ati card. Since I'm going to be running linux, that ati card is going to be pretty useless to me, damn them and their poor drivers. If that have a nvidia 128mb card in it I'd be all over it. Sadely the only laptop I've seen with a 128mb nvidia gpu is that alienware mobile, and it's overpriced and doesn't come with a p-m, just a p4, blah. Seems like ati dominated nvidia in the 128mb gpu market.

Anyone know a site that let's you customized your gpu? or can you just remove a gpu and replace it yourself. Maybe I could sell the ati card on ebay. I just have no experiance opening up laptops.

I realize this is the thread that will not die, I'm just still looking for some concrete answers.

Generally notebook designs have 1 maybe 2-3 gpu's availible and that's it. I think gateway offers nvidia gpu's with a P-M, might check that out.

Yeah I saw that model at discountlaptops, it's actually more expensive then the cl56 at mwave. Haven't found it on any other site yet. If anyone has seen it and can link that would be great.

14"1' is kinda small, looks like I'll be seeing if anything comes around in January. Anyone have an advanced info on the models in January?
