Just wanted to tell you all that I bought the Satellite A70 yesterday from Future Shop. The guy that worked there was reallly helpful...couldn't ask for better service.
I ended up getting the laptop (A70 KL1 model), and the extended 3 year warranty from Future Shop (which I hadn't intended to buy until I found out that I wouldn't be able to purchase extra warranty at a later date). After buying a no interest/no payment plan for $60 and a printer for $65 (which will be free after a rebate from HP) I'm out $2200. Even though the extra warranty hiked up the price about $400 I think it'll be worth it...and will at least give me peace of mind knowing I can accidently drop this thing on the floor and it'll be replaced.
I have only used it about 2 hours in total so far, but the things I've noticed so far are:
-Loud fan on startup/somewhat noisy hard drive (although I've read in the manual you can get it to shut off after a certain amount of time)
-Easy to use keyboard (Before using this laptop I MIGHT have typed 10 words on a laptop, and already I'm finding the keyboard easy to use).
-When the screen is angled back the display is nice and bright
-Speakers are not as bad as I expected. Good enough if you're not using them to blast music.
-Somewhat warm on the bottom. However I used it on my lap for about a 1/2 an hour and it was tolerable.
So that's an update for you (sorry so long). I have a month to try this thing out, and if I decide to keep it, I'll make sure I write a review

Yeah I was considering putting a different hard drive in mine too but so far it's been just fine.
