It seems that 99,9% of children ask for a Chrismas upgrade
the 25 january, the 25 february, the 25 march ...........

Thanks for the stats... it's actually quite interesting to look through...

Personally, I'm quite surprised to see that there are more 8886 buyers than for the 5660 model.

Well, if you're going to get a Sager, might as well get the biggest one they got.

I think its also mildly surprising that people chose No OS over anything else, but I suppose that's why people buy here and not from Sager's site. I like the no OS option; I plan to buy the OS later just so I can have the sager, all the while running 98 SE on it =P...or maybe 2k pro.

That, and the 5400 rpm upgrades weren't TOO surprising, but such a large number DID surprise me.

The 8886 is more for the money for me... and the no OS option is great for people who already own an OS they want to use. The number of upgrades to 5400 rpm doesn't surprise me at all... I wouldn't get one with a 4200 rpm drive...

I suppose so.

What the stats are missing, though, is how many laptops were sold and how many were accounted for in each stat.

Oh wait, it does. nevermind. Well then it should be an overall thing?
Well, the stats account for recency... The change from the 5620 to 5660 and 8880 to 8886 might have affected recent trends since one came before the other.

mm. It's all a big popuarity contest.

According to Billyjack's thread, Alienware is the largest seller, and that makes me mad. =P

Did you also notice that the sales for 5660 were spread almost evenly across C, S, and V, while for 8886 it was mostly V?
Yeah, I figure that usually people who go for the 8886 have the money or the desire for the top of the line plus a few extras... I wish I could say that of myself :-)
I'll probably end up getting the 5660 C myself. Maybe V, but I don't see why you'd get the S, because it's either you get a Sager at its lowest price, the fast sager at its lowest price, but why an S?
Some people just want to get as much as possible with the money they have. I'm glad for the choices.. considering those preset ones are much cheaper.
Are there really any big advantages of the 8886 that makes it more appealing than the 5660? I can see there's a numpad, larger screen, TV tuner, mp3 player...is it worth the extra money?
IMO it is because of the many spindles on the mobo... more expandability. But, if you don't need that expandability, you don't need it :-) I tried to write as much about that in the review as possible.

I see. I think the main difference that makes me want the 5660 is the dual battery capability. I think that while I travel, it'll be fine when I'm on the plane or in the car and I don't have the adapters to have an extra 1.5-2 hrs. I really doubt I'll need it, but I like the choice of doubling its battery life.
