I don't know, I've torn apart (and built) more desktops than laptops, so this might be a challenge. The only laptop processor I've upgraded is my 3 year old Inspiron 3800, from a 500C->650C->650PIII. That's an MMC2.

The Intel Frequency ID says the packaging is FC-PGA2, just like my desktop.

It looks like the silver plate between the 2 copper heatsinks is bolted to the processor. I'd rather not take it off right now, as I don't know what kind of material Toshiba has used between the heatsink and the processor. Also, since I've got the Costco 3.0GHz H/T version, upgrading to 3.2GHz doesn't seem like a very big performance gain for over $600, and I don't think I can use the 3.0GHz in my desktop as it's a 533FSB. It would be a little more worth while for the someone with a 2.8GHz P25.

What up Toshiba people! Im a well...you all should know by now, but ive to the Sager 5680..and someone posted pics of if the S705. Im a notebook gamer for now, till i get a desktop, so the video in the machine wasnt what i thought it was going to be in that toshiba machine...however, that is one of the sexiest looking laptops ive seen since my sager, when i first saw it like 2years ago. I think it looks better than teh alienware. Period. So, who ever gets that sucker, please put up pics so i can drool at them. Thank you. BTW, who else in here has one and hows the performance?
