Bad crackling sound in UT2004 (8790, using 3.64's)

I've got great sound overall out of the Realtek AC97 3.64's and 3.66's, but bad crackling in one game: Unreal Tournament 2004. (I recently went back from 3.66 to 3.64 to see if that was it, but I still have the crackling). I'm aware of the new 3.67's but before I go through the whole reconfiguration, I wonder if anybody else has had this trouble (with UT2004 or another game) and has anyone found a driver that resolves it?

Hope in the 3.67's?

I had alot of trouble with the sound in UT2K4, I prolly won't try the 3.67, the 3.66 I had odd sounds in the menu and a little in game, I'm a 5680 user, but other drivers were crackly, I forget what set was best for me BEFORE the 3.66's.

for other drivers see this Thread

You can try lowering your hardware acceleration for your sound through dxdiag. That helped when I used to have crackling in BF:1942. Try lowering it to standard and if that doesn't work try basic.
