MSI board hasn't shipped yet, supposed to in the next few weeks, that's why. You'll see it offered, it's much cheaper than the Asus. Some retailers taking pre-orders with the MSI board.

Ive read that the MSI board is a tad bit better than the Asus although the Asus looks gooood

MSI had a good success with the Nforce3 K8N Neo2 Platinum. I doubt they will let up here, though asus makes great boards all round. But MSI never really distinguished itself with the other boards. Ahh well, we'll just have to wait for the reviews and Anandtech roundups.

I don't know, I think MSI has consistently received rave reviews on all of it's boards - whether or not they've been revolutionary in any way, they probably haven't.

But for good, solid, well-priced boards, I don't think they can be beat. Asus boards have always been solid, too, but at a premium price. Overclocking with MSI has always been easy and productive, and the online updates are priceless.

And pyro, I'll try to get to that santa hat.

from what ive seen, MSI tends to be middle of the pack.

But the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum was simply amazing.

I think MSI is junk, the K8N neo2 was great but that was about it. brands like DFI and Asus own MSI in about every way.

The default opinion for the last few years, that Asus is light years ahead of everyone, is no longer reality.

DFI has decent boards, but I hardly think they rate ownage on anyone, although I wouldn't call DFI "junk". Asus are solid, but MSI's suite of included mobo utilities, solid overclocking ability and instant updating online put them over the top for me.

I've built a few hundred systems personally, and I will use MSI most of the time, or Asus if it's requested. DFI is a brand I would recommend for those who can build/troubleshoot their own, because they can be buggy, although highly overclock-friendly.

The 915 board MSI produced is an excellent PCI-Express board, as is their 925. Different MSI boards have received great reviews (hardOCP, hothardware, pcstats, viperlair), not just the k8n series.

Second that!!

The cheapest I've seen an SLI system was for around $1900.00 from Velocity Micro. It had a 3.2 Ghz P4, 1GB RAM, Dual 6600 GT's, WD 74GB Raptor, DVD and DVD/CDRW combo.

Lol I think im actually gonna get SLi, after decideing yes then no then maybe then no now yes. AAAghh computer shopping has been on of the most difficult things I have ever had to decide on! Hopefully I will have the first SLi system on the boards.
yea, but i hear ATi is following up Nvidia by making their own SLI chipset. Not many details on that, but all we know is that it is in R&D ATM.

Anybody know what the MSRP of the MSI board is going to be?

EDIT: Check this out. They are starting to release SLI capable vanilla 6800 cards. If you can unlock the pipes on these you might be able to get a dual 6800gt SLI for the price of one Ultra

Only works with this type of card? Then you would have to check the core too to see if it's ok with GT speeds. Because of the high die size of the core, yeilds are low and usually they put failed cores in lower end 6800s.

what is so special about vanillas anyway?

Ive never heard of this mod, is it a hardmod or bios flash?
