Video Slows Temporarily

Hey everyone,
So I've been perusing these boards for a couple of days now trying to find a solution to my problem. Here's the issue:
When I run various games and when running the iTunes visualization on my 5680, I will every two to three minutes get a burst of lag - I call it lag, but it is basically just running terribly slow. Nothing else slows, just that game or the itunes visualization. After 30 seconds - 1 minute the lag fixes and the game speeds back up.
I'm running the Omega drivers right now.
I had a similar problem at the beginning of last year when I got my computer. I had to use the hotkey to "disable my infrared" but actually going into the control panels and disabling it didn't work. The hotkey was like, fn f10 or something.
I recently reformated and maybe the only other related issue is that videos (any video, in IE, running off my hardrive, in winAmp - except quicktime videos) crash my computer. They lock up my video player and then after trying to end the player the computer freezes and I have to reboot.
Ok thanks, I hope some of you guys are smart enough to help.

the second issue, and perhaps the first, may be related to the bios issue that resolved in 10s revision

What is your BIOS version?

Hmm not sure how to check my bios version. I went into bios, and noted before it started up that it said BIOS revision: 1.00.03 T1. Is that what you are looking for? How can I update my BIOS?

That is an early version of the bios and you most certainly need this update.

You need to make a floppy boot disk, add the bios files, then set your computer to boot first to floppy if it is not already, then reboot and follow the prompts.

Or, you can look for a copy of winphlash and do it from within windows.

I personally prefer the boot disk method, but I am old fashioned...what's your preference ?

I have everything you need for the boot flash method here:

I can probably root out a winphlash setup somewhere....don't have it on this computer, but I have it on the server at home

thanks gerryf. I'll try that out and let you know how it goes. I'm in the middle of finals so I can only afford a bit of time to check up on the threads. Thanks for being patient with me.

By the way, in case anyone searches this forum, that worked, GerryF, the video playback issue was resolved. Thanks a lot

would you unzip these files then put on floppy or no? Just put the zip right on it and proceed?

Thank you

I just wanted to thank you. I also had the video playback issues and the link you provided to the bios upgrade solved my issues. Thank you very much!
