Please Help, Problem with Toshiba ODD-DVD SD-R6372

Ok, this morning I watched a dvd on my laptop, played some games. I turned it off, turned it back on this evening, put in a dvd and the drive shows the disk as blank. I tried a cd, also blank, but the game still runs from the cd, but only if i use a shortcut, there is no autoplay it seems as part of this problem. I popped the drive out and back in to make sure it was secure, I reinstalled the firmware it accepted it and found new hardware, but still same problem. Does anyone know what is going on, this baffles me. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks, Dan

Sounds like a windows problem, not a hardware issue.

Download a copy of DVDINFO-Pro at http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
and see if it can recognize the drive and media correctly. Also has a few test things in it.

I used dvdinfo-pro, it recognizes the drive but it doesn't recognize any media. What do you think?

Try deleting the hardware within windows and then let windows reinstall it after you reboot the laptop.
