What Drivers do I need and does anyone know where I can find drivers for Audio or the Video cards on the protable?
Any direction would be useful.
Hmm, how recent is your laptop? If it is fairly recent I would instlal a newer distro running a 2.6 kernel, that will probably fix most of your problems and since they are free to download it wont cost ya anything
Plus the 2.4 kernel doesnt really support ACPI where the 2.6 kernel will at least do a semi decent job with it.
Other than that, Alsa runs most sound cards, including onboard audio on my HP(Aka Compaq) laptop. In as far as the video it depends on the card but most of the time if it is supported it is already installed, unfortunatly chances are you are running a twisterk chipset which isnt supported very well and in order to get 3d optimization on it you would have to step back to XFree86 4.2, and if you are new to linux, dont try setting up XFree, it is a pain.
So yea my first suggestion is to find a distro that runs 2.6 kernel, there are many out there, RedHat I am sure has one, along with Suse(A personal reccomendation of mine would be the pro Version of Suse 9.2 or any 9.x I believe) Heck the distro you have may have a 2.6 kernel in it that was an option to install if you really dont wanna download another one, but chances are it is an older one so you would probably still be better off downloading a new one.
