Are modular bay drives interchangable between models?

I currently have a 9100 with the standard DVD drive, and I have an 8600 on the way (wahoo! ) with a CD-RW/DVD combo drive. Now, if I wanted to use the CD-RW/DVD drive in the 9100, would that work? I don't know if modular drives are specific to a certain model or not. I don't think they are, but I figure I'd just ask first.

i dont know if 8600 and 9100 modulars are interchangable. i know the 600m/700m work with the 8600 stuff.
