Calling all 600m/D600 owners with internal Bluetooth - Page 5

Is there any way to find out which motherboard part numbers (or any other identifying traits whilst it is out of the laptop) relate to which revision and specs of the board?

I am especially keen to find out about the Gigabyte card and graphics memory, and to find out a manufacturing date for the mobo?

I have the model with the Gigabit and 64mb M9000. According to CPU-Z, I have model 0D2126 Rev. 03. I'd rather have the model without the gigabit and with the faster 333mhz RAM rather than the 266mhz RAM with gigabit.

Grrrr...

Seeing this thread burns me.....

My wife has a 600m that ran out of warranty in August, and this problem started a few weeks before the warranty expired. I was on a business trip, so I was not able to call Dell right away. I had my wife call, and they gave her the run around saying that it was an unknown problem and that it was her fault!

Now that the warranty has expired, they refuse to provide any recourse.

I'm fed up with Dell. They used to provide a great product at a great price. The last 3 Dell's that I have used (Dimension dekstop, 600m, and Latitude D600) have all had issues, from bad batteries to weak screen hinges to heat-caused problems and now this. Time to find a new preferred vendor.

dell 600m

just to thank for the help on the "usb not recognized" problem. My 600m was purchased on april 2005. After 1 year and 5 months, I just got this problem recently. 600m has been quite ok, except for this problem. I will try to take the bluetooth module out. Thanks everyone for the answer.

thanks mich43L and all

well my friend directed to me to this forum after we tried the usual means of solving the mystery BT issues.

basically,
bought my 600m in may/2006. then in august, got the old "USB device not recognized" which drove me insane.... CSR tried to be helpful and had me run diagnostics through BIOS and write down all error codes, she also had me muck around in device manager till I was blue in the face (no pun intended).

finally i gave up. did a system restore which interstingly made the USB device not recognised message go away. but now the BT light is on, with the BT disabled. did all the usual uninstall reinstall crap. and was sure this was somehow software related...... till my friend found this forum and we tried pressure on the palm rest voila.... it works.

question, I'm concerned that this is a major design flaw. should I hold onto the lappie till warranty almost up then demand money back ( I have the basic 1 year warranty) as I have a BT dongle at home. then use the money for a new lappie? or should I settle for a new MOBO.
I like my lappie, but am concerned that this issue hasnt been fixed as it seems it has been around for at least 2 years now. maybe that is why they DC'd the popular 600m line for the 640m.

Thanks OP for posting this issue and keeping us all in the know.

Dryeyes.

After 3 months of bickering back and forth and sending my 600m to the depot 3 different times for repair dell finally came through and sent me a new 640m.I'm more than satisfied with the service. I only had the basic warranty which I had extended. The new laptop has the complete care warranty which is an added plus.

Question. Has this issue ever been fully resolved? The reason why I am asking is that I am considering getting a TrueMobile 300 BT Module for my D600 and I am leery of popping it in if I am guarnteed to have problems. If it helps any, I just had my motherboard replaced in the last couple of weeks for an unrelated issue (CPU-Z says Revision A3 for what that's worth).

Thanks in advance.

After dealing with this EXTREMELY annoying issue now for almost a year I just did a Google search and came up with your postings..

I too exchanged e-mails with Dell and spent endless hours on the phone with Dell Tech support, replaced the Bluetooth card, upgraded the software, blah blah. Finally after all that the Dell tech told me that I would have to reinstall Windows because we had ran out of options.

I needed my laptop as I was in the middle of my Thesis so I couldn't take the chance of losing everything...so I've been dealing with not being able to use my Bluetooth and the annoying pop-up and ding dongs...NO MORE DAMN IT!!! I bought the extended warranty but I'm still trying to figure out just what that means!

Has anyone else gotten anywhere on this lately????

With a little persistence, Dell really helped out greatly on this one. Props to their service department. Maybe it will work out in the end, maybe not (I'm hoping that the bluetooth craps out again upon replacement, and by a 3 strike rule I'll get a new rig ). My laptop is out of warranty, but they had replaced my bluetooth transceiver 8 months ago because of a coffee spill (that may have worked to my advantage).

They are replacing my motherboard and internal bluetooth transceiver.

I put in my service tag, chatted with a rep online, gave him the link to this thread. I was extremely persistent that it was a design problem & that thousands of people had this problem. I spammed the thread link here and there to make sure he looked at it. Before long, I asked how I could get in touch with a supervisor or someone that had the authority to replace my parts. After a wait, he responded he could replace both the motherboard and the bluetooth. Good luck to you all...
