Brightness setting of my 8600 after I did a clean installation

Thread Starter
I did a clean installation of xp on my new 8600c today. I noticed that the brightness level of my screen was always on full when I restart the laptop. It wasnt like that before the installation. The screen was a little too bright for me, so I lower it down a little. Now I have to do that everytime I reboot the laptop. Is there a way to fix that? TIA.

ps: Do I need to install the Intel Mobile Chipset with the clean installation? The released date of it is 08/12/2003.

You can change that in the BIOS. Just put it down a notch there

If by "Intel Mobile Chipset" you mean the Speedstep software - I'd be wary...some users have had disastrous problems with this software - search the forums....

Ahhh...ok. - do see/think there'd be any significant advantage to installing Intel's vs. Dell's? I thought Dell tweaked theirs to ensure..well, supposedly, to ensure optimum compatibility in their notebooks.....
