Anyone noticed poor wifi range performance on the 7405?

Originally started out with a M6805, hinge cracked and got the M6810. It cracked and luckily somehow I got the 7405 after they weren't devo. What I have noticed is even at home I notice my signal will be only good in the living room where it used to be excellent. I could even pick up my friends network that I secured for him. Now I can't at all. Used to be able to check my email within a few blocks of hunting, now I have to be damn close to a wifi router to connect. Is there anything I can do besides buying a PCMIA Wifi card for more range. Its not really needed since I am usually in the same room as my router but then when I am in that room I don't even use the laptop since my main systems are present. kinda ruins the point of a wifi laptop since when you need the wifi the most is on the road and you can't really connect to much.

I guess I am just asking is there anyway to improve the range of the built in card since buying a card isn't worth the time or money.

Check the antennae connectors on the card itself and verify that one hasn't come off.

mine has excellent range, anywhere in the house I can pick up my network and sometimes I pick up two other networks, maybe my neihbor's?

Make sure the two wires are nice and tight. And make sure they are not corroded.

Psst, how much digging into the system do I have to do to get to the wifi card???? I really hope that is the problem cause I know for a fact this 7405 has less range than the other two.

Open the flap door on the bottom and there will be two wires connected to the card. Uplug them and yank out the card. Then take a good look and see if the terminals have corrosion on them, if not see how tight the wires go on, and if they are loose, pinch them ever so slightly with a pair of needle nose.
