5660 modem wont connect

Of i just unwrapped my 5660 tonight and the first problem is its only got 256 mb of ram in it.... but i will email pctorque about this later so its no big deal. But my deal is that i cant get the modem to connect properly. First off the modem takes forever to connect if it does at all but as soon as its connected it kicks off.... The sounds it makes dont sound right either.. the connecting sounds are all echo and random. I know its not a problem with the isp so im not sure what to do. I have tried the newer drivers off of smlink.com and they do the same thing. So can you guys help me out?

Shoot me an email right away with your order number so I can take care of the RAM. That happened once before where they accidently sent 256 instead of 512.

As for the modem, I haven't used dial up in years. I'm guessing since you're sure it's not the ISP that means you have another system that connects right now perfectly? Go into your dial up properties and make sure they're set exactly the same and you're using the same line and outlet. If you feel it's defective, call Sager's tech line and they'll give you an RMA on it if that's what it comes down to. Sorry for the troubles.

Modem problems like that are usually driver or setting problems... You tried the latest drivers, so that eliminates that. My own lappy (a nonsager) has those problems when I don't set the properties in windows for dialup... ALso, try different dialup numbers, because some are optimized for v92 or k56flex, etc etc depending on your service.

Ohio eh? Where are you at? I'm in Dayton... we're getting snow out the wazoo right now, lol.

Well, I'm glad to hear that it isn't a hardware problem :-) Software is easy to fix :-)

Cool! The river isn't too far, lol, I have no idea where Manchester is though... Have fun with your sager!
