PM me your email address and I will send it to you. It is 1.00.10. Do you want the zip or the ISO copy? I can provide either, it's just a matter of bandwidth on your end.

Just to let you know the Bios and Vbios upgrades fixed my issues. The only other issue I have is the USB 2.0 and cam which every so often decide to ding and say a non usb2.0 device is on a high speed usb hub.

Freejack:

I got the USB 2 problem as well. Im using a matrox drive on the USB port and the drive reconnects every few minutes. Its extremly annyong when playing movies or mp3s from this drive.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Is it a software or hardware issue?

Thanks

Hi all. I just started to get some serious video artifacts after about 5 min of playing either Xpand Rally, or HL2. This started about 2 weeks ago, and seems to be getting progressively worse. I tried Omega drivers, the Sager 8.0, and recently reinstalled the OS, updated the BIOS to .10, and the new 8.4 vid drivers. Still get the same thing. Sager will be calling me on Monday, and from what Ive read it seems I'll be taking it in. (I live about 50 miles from Sager in CA)

Oops, forgot the screenshots:

Tread, did you install the new video card bios or just the mobo bios? I'm having the same problems, mines out for a RMA now, should be back later this week. Apparently Sager released an updated video bios which supposedly fixes the problem. Freejack has it and said that it worked for him. Would be curious to see if it fixes your problems as well.

If anyone wants it, either send me an AIM and i'll send you the file, or email me at mikedecoro@hotmail.com
is this being overlooked? sounds pretty important to me. i can't get a copy of this video bios from sager. they tell me to contact my vendor, but they send me to clevo. so if anyone has a copy of this video bios can they send me a copy at mauricet@eden.rutgers.edu

thanks in advance.

hmm.... my guess is that sager didn't particularly want me to go sending this to other people.... if they won't send it to you, maybe there are problems still, or they just don't want it floating around the internet.

Just got mine back via UPS, they replaced the motherboard. Testing it out now, will report my findings. (They didn't wipe the HD, so I didn't have to reinstall anything )

Let us know how your testing goes. Ijust spoke with Sager tech who said it sounds like a bad video card because I have updated my my mobo and vid bios as well as updated the drivers and the artifacts are still there. Before I send my computer in I wanted to make sure that they were able to fix the problem.

i wish i had seen this post before i rma-ed my 8790. i emailed sager a few days ago cause i had been having the exact same problems only with different colors in the screenshots and to a much larger extent. ted told me to rma it but never mentioned the vidcard bios update...kindof a bummer. guess this isnt an unheard of problem though, from this post and others. my question is, did everyone else just start having problems? i mean, did it use to work fine? mine dad, just thought it sounded strange to suddenly go bad.

I tried the video bios update and it did not resolve my problem so I think my next step is to RMA.

Well, here's the deal:

The reason I originally sent it in was because in WoW I would get the same type of artifacting as the previous screenshots have shown. I got it back yesterday and they replaced the motherboard. Tested out WoW for about 4 hours, didn't artifact once Prior to sending it in, it would begin artifacting after about 10 minutes. In fact, the game is playing 100% smoother. My average fps before RMA was ~30, and after I got it back is ~40. So in addition to fixing the problem it also alleviated whatever stress was on the videocard to pump out more fps. I'm using the .10 bios and the 5/5/04 video bios (dunno which one that is, its what my system came back with) and the 8.04 drivers as supplied by Sager. I may try the Omegas/overclocking at a later date, but I'm happy with the system for now.

Im having the same promblem that you experience when I play NFSPU2 and Battle for middle earth. I have the same bios as you, the 8.04 drivers and the newest video bios and still have the issue. Hope fully when I RMA it it resolves the issue since I bought this laptop to game and can't really do that because of the artifacting.

On the side note in I underclock the vid card to 370/230 it doesn't artifact but game play slows down to much.

Quick question. is the video bios stored on the hard drive? Im keeping my hard drive when I ship the laptop for them to either replace the motherboard or video card. Will not shpping my hard drive cause any isues on sager side when fixing my laptop?
no, it is stored in a mini flash chip on the video card
