FS: Asus M6ne WSXGA (and that's not a misprint).

Hi all,

After long and careful consideration I have decided I don't need two laptops, and the big bright glossy screen on my Sony A190 has tipped the balance in its favor.

So my Asus M6ne is up for sale and I thought I'd offer it here before it goes on eBay.

The laptop is the Australian model M6S00(M6ne). The most obvious difference to US spec is that it has the WSXGA screen at 1680x1050. And a very nice screen it is, better than any non-enhanced screen I've seen.

But that's not the only difference. This M6ne is built, branded and supported by Asus, rather than a third party reseller. I had a slight problem with the keyboard and Asus fixed it for me on the spot. It comes with a two year global warranty, so wherever you are Asus will fix it. The laptop is three months old so there are 21 months left.

The configuration is 1.7 Dothan, 512K memory, 4 x DVD dual burner with Windows XP pro. I replaced the original drive with a 60Gb 7200 drive.

Asus provide it with a full set of recovery disks, Nero OEM suite, Asus DVD, Asus Media Show, Asus Power Director (these are all Cyberlink porgrams) and a bunch of fairly average games. I have added MS Office Pro, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, Sony Vegas MovieStudio and Norton Systemworks. I can provide backup discs for these, but not the originals.

As well, the drive has the No CD versions of Call of Duty, GTA3, GTA:VC and GTA: Liberty City.

Condition is as new with all orginal packing and accessories. It has an Asus carry bag and mouse. I will provide my original store receipt. I have not registered the computer yet.

Price is tricky. I paid $3300 Australian (which is $2500 US), plus the new hard drive.

I figure I can get $2500 Australian for it here, which is about $2000 US. This about the same as the current US price for a bog standard M6. So the asking price is $2000 and isn't especially negotiable. Shipping to the US will be about $70, and I will split it. I do travel to the States a lot, but won't be there until the end of January and I'm sure no-one wants to wait that long .

I don't have Heatware, but do have extensive eBay feedback for similar high ticket items - ID is blackwash1.

PM me if you are interested. I have attached some shots and there are more in my review here:

512K memory?

Your signature says it has 1 GIG Ram. Will you ship to Canada?

I was planning on putting the extra 512 into my Sony. Memory is cheap so I suppose I could leave it in as a deal maker. SHipping to Canada is not a problem.

Thanks for all the interest and PMs. It appears that the eBay bidding has reached above what I was selling it for here, so I guess it is off the market. But please, don't let that stop you from driving the price up even higher.

Unfortunately, due to an attempted fraud which was badly executed but nevertheless successful in stuffing up the auction, the laptop is still available and back on eBay and here:

For anyone worried about shipping, I'll be in the States at the end of January and so can deliver it to your hot little hands in either San Francisco, Chicago (O'Hare), New York or, if you happen to be up that way, Saginaw Michigan.

Steve, hope you don't mind me making a suggestion about your eBay auctions.

I've had a lot of NPBs lately on machines I've sold on eBay and always state this at the end of every auction:

"Bidders with excessive negative feedback will be canceled.
Bidders with 0 feedback please email me before you bid (Unless you're using BuyNow) Otherwise your bid will be canceled."

If you have a bidder with 0 feedback who hasn't emailed you about their intent to buy, simply cancel their bid - they obviously didn't read the auction and most likely won't pay. If someone finds this to be too much trouble, again - they're not serious about your machine.

I've found it saves time and money on relisting fees when you have to wait almost 2 weeks to get a credit.
I spoke to eBay about this policy and it's perfectly ok to cancel bidders who don't comply with your TOS.

Hope this helps, good luck selling your machine.
