I hate alienware right now.

Ok, let me see if I can make this into a coherent post since I'm furious right now.

My Area-51 was on backorder a few weeks because of the Nvidia 6800 Ultra, last week I got an e-mail notification that it had entered phase 9. Great, I was excited. I planned on calling today (monday) to update the price since it had dropped significantly since I originally ordered, in addition to the $500 rebate I had already called up to receive a few weeks ago.

Original price was about $5,300, and I checked last week and the price was about $4,700. So minus the $500 rebate, the price I should be paying would be about $4,200.

The problem is that I was away this weekend, and when I came back today I see that it skipped all the way to shipped. Great....So I give them a call and they said that because of the new pricing (10% off orders), that they couldn't go back to when it shipped over the weekend to get the right pricing. So now I'm still stuck with $5,300 minus the $500 rebate.

The worst part is that one of the sales-people told me they would honor the new pricing on the website, then said no she couldn't because my order had already shipped.

I'm calling back to cancel my order and have my system shipped back immediately if they don't help me out soon. This is absolutely rediculous.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I don't want to cancel after I've waited all this time and it's almost here, but I can't see paying $5,300 when if I called on friday it'd be $4,700 no problem...especially after being lied to and put on hold a million times. I am losing all my faith for alienware right now, I don't think I want it and after all my friends, co workers and family seeing all the trouble I've been having with Alienware I doubt any of them will buy one now.

Haha, I'm trying to. It just sucks knowing just because they ripped through production and got it out the door once they got the 6800 Ultra in, that I might be out a $500 price drop. Sure the $500 rebate is great, but a $500 rebate and a $500 price drop it way better lol. I don't see why it's so hard to adjust the price so I pay what the price was when it shipped. That seems logical to me.

Price currently: $5,300 - $500 rebate = $4,800
What price should be: $4,700 - $500 rebate = $4,200

That's just depressing.

if you are so upset about having to pay $4800 then why did you configure a $5300 computer in the first place? you are just getting greedy.

take the 500 MIR while you can and dont bitch about the price drop. sure you were lied to, so thats a reason to cancel an order? think about this before you act.

EDIT: if it shipped then they cant honor the price drop because the PC is out of AW's hands.

I'm not upset about paying the price itself. When I configed my pc I wanted what I payed for, and that was $5,300. However, after waiting for approximately 8-12 weeks (I don't even remember anymore) I do expect to get some money taken off from the original price to reflect market changes. If my pc was originally $5,300, and a few days before it shipped it's UNDER 5k then I know I should get some back.

I'm not being greedy, the $500 rebate is much appreciated but any price drops before a system ships should be honored as well. I'm just trying to get what I think is right.

Hell in many retail stores you can come back within 30 days and get a price difference on a purchase you bought if the price drops....

I just saw your edit. Yes I know it's out of their hands and it shipped, but I wasn't expecting it to ship so soon....it just jumped from phase 9 to 14. I guess I should have called earlier for the price adjustment but it was on backorder so long I didn't think it'd make a difference.

Good afternoon IBelieve:

There may have been a bit of confusion. The 10% off orders is a separate promotion all together.

When you ordered your system, your system was eligible for the $500 rebate offer.

Promotions can not be combined.

I have PMed you requesting your account info so I may clarify this.

I FULLY understand that the 10% off orders is a seperate promotion altogether.

I understand promotions cannot be combined, I wasn't expecting to get both.

All I want is the price drop before it shipped, which was around $4,700 (my original price was $5,300 so you can see why I would want this price drop) or so if I remember correctly along with the $500 rebate..

PM will be sent back in a moment....thanks.

When you saw the price drop last week, you should've called immediately to get the difference back. Don't assume that your PC will sit in Phase 9 over the weekend.

Besides AW, there are other companies that ship out PC's over the weekend (Dell comes to mind).

For the $600.00 difference you were supposed to get, I'd have even called from my cell.

Yeah, well I was under the impression they were closed on the weekends anyway...so when it shipped over the weekend that surprised me right there. Besides, I was away for the weekend....so didn't even know it had shipped until today.

IBelieve:

Unfortunately the price drop can not be honored because the system had already shipped the 10th of December.

Price drops can only be done before the system ships out.

Addendum: The price of a system can go up or down during the period from ordering to the day it ships.

The price change you are referring to for your system seems to be too much. There could not be such a drastic price drop from your order date to the ship date.

Wow, I can't believe this is a problem. Welp, looks like this is the last alienware i'm buying if this is the way you guys are conducting business now.

How the HELL am I supposed to call and ask for a price drop during the weekend if there's no one there? Stupid.

Besides, as I stated earlier....I didn't even know it was past phase 9 this weekend anyway. Even if I did, I would not have been able to do anything about it. So I guess I was jipped out of my money either way.
