9200 and cases/backpacks

hey guys,

i wanted to see what you guys would recommend as a sleeve for the 9200. i bought the targus backpack on the dell website, but i don't think the 9200 would fit that well in it. i figured a nice sleeve would protect the part of the 9200 sticking out of the pocket.

thanks!

it fits fine in my targus backpack...long as it is the one for 17'' screens...

Targus - BLA that's like putting a beautiful date into a Ford Taurus. I went snazzy with a Tom Bihn Brain Bag and Monolith.

I got the dell backpack and a leather case. The backpack holds my lappy and college text books fine! It has a ton of space. If you wait till this upcoming weeked, I'll have my camera and I'll post pics and a review

this looks nice:

ebags.com had some good ones. I still haven't bought one, but will soon. Those Tom Bihn ones are tempting.

Im getting my 9200 hopefully within the next 3 days. I was planning on getting the Targus backpack... its the only one that ive found that looks good and isnt that pricey. Ill take a closer look at it when I get my notebook though in the store before I buy it.

I believe that the Tom Bihn bag is going to be cheaper. I had 2 Targus's (given to me at work). They fall apart in about a year. While my Tom Bihn is new I can tell you by the construction it should last at least 5 years.

wow, bags cost up to 50-150 bucks? thats insane, Bags in China cost like 10 bucks at most.

I bought my dell bag for $25. It is very well constructed and has so much room its not even funny. I almost overfilled the thing today (it was really heavy so I had to take things out.)

The best bag I have seen for the 9200 is a Jansport Optimizer which costs around $100. It fits a little tight, but the protection is great. I have seen a slight variation among the Optimizer. The one I get the bottom padding is sewn in instead of velcro in, and it gave me a little more room for the 9200.

I think Jansport makes great stuff. This back pack is big enough to fit the 9200, yet it doesn't look ridiculously big. It got 3 full length compartment, one for the laptop and two for other things, plus 3 medium to small pockets. Yet the look is very streamline. The construction is subperb, and personally I like the style - it doesn't look cheap. I am kinda a snob when it come to backpack, but I really think you get what you pay for in this case.

I may put up a review with photos if I have some time.

I'm really happy with the Dell bag, it seems well made and especially good for travelling. It's not perfect though, I would have designed some of the compartments slightly differently. But it is well worth the ~$40 it cost me. Still, I would like to get a sleeve for day to day use eventually. Really liking the Booqbag sleeves, but I'm going to keep my eyes open for awhile since I do have the Dell bag and no need to hurry on the sleeve.

I was in circuit city over the weekend. Just checking out how big a 17" notebook
really is. I had the sales guy unlock a Toshiba Qosimo G15 so I could put it in an ICON back back they had sitting around. It was nice. Lots of room in the front area since the laptop itself slides into a sleve in the back. I liked the hard cover sun glasses case sitting on the front to keep my glasses from being squished.
I am sure it would fit any 17" book.

I don’t have a laptop yet, Seriously looking at the 9200. I am a developer and need the WUXGA screen. Also I ride a train 2 hours a day that has internet access so I want the ability to play WoW once in a while to keep tabs on my RL friends who live in Azeroth

and the 9200 will let you do just that. I was able to get 2hrs of solid gaming on battery! That backpack looks really nice

If you're willing to spend a bit extra, for $100 you can get the Crumpler Team Player off photoco on ebay.

The pics are here:

I'm definitely happy with my purchase as it's extremely well made and attractive.

booq anyone?

I got a Jansport bag from ebags.com... it has just enough space in the laptop compartment to hold my i9200, and plenty of space for books and whatnot in the main compartments.

Which Jansport bag? I saw the Optimizer and was wondering if it held the I9200. And what did you pay for, if you don't mind me asking.
