8886 Screen wobbles when open

The screen of the laptop has begun wobbling when open to normal viewing angle. When barely open or fully open it is stiff but at viewing angle it wobbles about 5 - 10 degrees. Are there any adjustments that I can make to tighten it back up?

Yes there is. Search the forums - I don't have time now, but someone definitely posted how to tighen it up. I'm pretty sure it involves pulling out those little rubbler plugs just to the outside of the hinges under the screen, but I can't be certain. If you find it, post the link.

EDIT: A quick search found this post by Adam. But I can't imagine the front of the LCD just 'snaps' off. Can you give a better description Adam?

thanks now that I know what to tighten I'll fix it tonight. I found the service manual that shows how to get to the screws.

Can you post where in the service manual it is? Mostly because I'm completely swamped with work and every second saved helps. But also partially because I'm lazy

the section on removing the inverter shows how to open the lcd up. but its not needed.

btw fixing the wobble is extremely easy. I was under the impression I had to take the lid apart but in reality it was just removing the 2 rubber covers on the bottom of the screen and tighten the two screws underneath them (in the service manual page 47 screws 2 and 3). I noticed that the lid was slightly seperated at the hinges. Tightened the screws and it was just like new.
