I've been doing a lot of research on this, and just thought Id share in case anyone else was interested:
The power rating for the Sager NP4750 notebook battery is 14.8V-4400mAH or about 65 watt hours.
Batterygeek.net has a high capacity battery called the BG 18-21-111 model which is compatible with the 4750. It has a 111 Watt Hour rating, which is roughly double the capacity of the 4750 battery.
So theoretically, if you get one hour out of your 4750, you should get about 2 hours with the external battery, or 3 hours both batteries combined.
Now if you use power saving techniques (throttling CPU, lowering voltage settings, etc.) you may coax an extra hour out of the 4750 battery, giving a run time of 2 hours. With the external battery, that would give 4 hours of runtime, or 6 hours both batteries combined.
To sum up, the purchase of this external battery may extend your runtime from 1-2 hours to 3-6 hours. Not thrilling, but it does compete with the runtime of the 3790 ( Sager NP3790).
That said, i dont think I'll need an external battery solution now as two hours is probably enough for me, but it's nice to know there does seem to be a solution out there in case I need more time. If I do purchase one soon I'll post the actual real world results here.
