Acer Travelmate 8003 LMi

Hi all,

I'd like to know how is the screen on this laptop? I know it's not the best, but is it that bad? What about the viewing angles? Also, how does it compares to a cathodic (I don't know if it's a word, but I meen the old screens on PIII, not LCD)screen?

Moreover, is there a big difference between the 1,6GHZ 1MB L2 cache and 2GHz 2MB L2 cache? In power? And how does the 1,6 compares to a P III 866MHz?

Finally, does the acer travelmate 8003LMi is a 1,6GHz P-M with 1MB or 2MB at L2 cache?

Thanks,
Blacko

If you put Acer 8003 lmi into Search on this site, you should find a lot of conversation about this notebook. I have it, and the screen is great for me. Many people were talking about it in the early summer of this year.

As for your other questions, I am having trouble understanding what you are asking. Here is a list of specs from Newegg:

You can also just go to the Acer site itself.

I used to have a 8003LMi. But finally I returned it for refund. It is because of the screen has one green pixel. And the speakers have no sound sometime (I think that is a software problem.)
I think that is a good laptop beside the quality is not good in some case. The screen has a high resolution. And I love it. But the reviewing angle is worse than WXGA screen. My friend has a Acer 2012LMi. The quality is really bad. But the reviewing angle is really better than the 8003LMi. Actually, the monitor of 8003LMi is not that bad. It just dimmer when you look at it in other sides.
I also think the 8003LMi isn't a bad quality model. Because this is the top model in all of the Acer laptop. Acer won't make her top model really bad.
That's all I want to say at this time. (Sorry about my English...)

I currently own an 8003Lmi, and if I had to buy it again I wouldn't. Personally the screen is pretty bad. When I use it on airplanes the minute I shift in my seat I have to change the screen angle so the screen is the proper brightness. I've already had the screen replaced once, and my speakers just went bad. Also, I've played MOH on this laptop and on my destop (P3 1.0 Ghz, Geforce 2 Ultra 64 MB, 512 MB memory) and the game plays slower on the laptop. The built-in wireless and bluetooth are wonderful, and the laptop is sturdy. Hope this helps.

Try disabling PowerPlay...

My 8003 is Banias 1,6 with 1Mb cache. No appreciable difference with DOthan 2.0Ghz 2Mb cache in normal use. You can find differences only with very big power consumption software like Video Editing.

Is it possible to remove the HD of the laptop? If yes, does the anti-shock option comes with the HD or is it in the laptop? I mean, if I remove the original latop, will the new one still be asnti-shock or does this option will be removed with the laptop?

Thanks,
Blacko

The "anti-shock" mechanism is actually an oval rubber pad on the bottom of the laptop directly superficial to the HD, so it doesn't matter what HD you have in the lappy.
