Beware: Phillips (extended Sager) support has been horrible for me - Page 2

Hence, why Philips wants you to give up from every step of the way. It's not so much just Philips, but all extended warranty "insurers" that do this. It similar to the whole "rebate" profession - they are banking on as few people as possible to use it.

Very good point. It also depends on the amount of money the rebate is for. If it's for $10 or less I find I'm less likely to send in the rebate out of sheer laziness. But if it's for say .. $30 - $50.. then that sucker can't get in the mail fast enough.

i've got a few days left to decide whether i want to change from phillips to warrantech. should i do so?
throw a dart, flip a coin,
probably doesnt matter..it just depends on the mood of the person you get when you call that day...people have complained about both, so who the heck knows..

So here's a lesson: expect this from ALL manufacturer.

The only desktop company to let me ship pieces that break back is Cyberpower INC. I have shipped 3 CD-RW's and 2 DVD-ROMS. I will be shipping a power supply and the 4th CD-RW back soon. The drive door won't open without the use of the emergency eject hole.

Sorry for bumping and old thread, but I felt it necessary to comment. Both Sager & Dell have sent me parts only on numerous occasions without having to send in the entire notebook or use the on-site service. However I am also a competent tech.

As far as the Phillips extened warranties are concerned my experiences are mixed. You have to play a lot of phone tag w/ Phillips. However if you are thorough in relaying the problem description and troubleshooting steps that you've taken it will cut down your talk time. Eventually they'll mail you a shipping box with a return label to Micro Medics. I sent a 5680 in for a customer and received a call from Micro Medics one week after they received it. They wanted to charge me $60 for the plastic LCD display latch. I asked if that was the cost for the part & labor, and they lady said it was for the part only. At least they are covering the logic board failure.

But the coverage of the extended warranty are only the central processing unit, internal keyboard, internal hard drives, and the computer's built in LCD are covered.

There is a summary regarding warranties and customer service from the representatives of resellers themselves e.g. PcTorque, Discountlaptops, PowerNotebooks, etc....
Take a peek at the link below

The warranty covers more than what you listed.

I was not upset about Micro Medics not replacing the latch under warranty; I was upset with the price gouging. I called Sager and they are sending me a latch at no cost and I'll replace it myself. How's that for service?

According to Luke... they are removing already the Philips warranty.
And uses the warrantech warranty for international only.

The extended 1,2,3 or 4 year warranty from PcTorque is handled by PcTorque themselves.

And the coverage of the warranty as listed in the policies in their website as stated...

1). Notebooks. Only the central processing unit, internal keyboard, internal hard drives, and the computer's built in LCD are covered.

I may have overlooked at it, but take a peek...

The only warranty that I was discussing in both of my posts was Phillips. Evidentally you weren't. :P

I understand you must be under great anxiety just like anyone having warranty and customer service problem...

As you said, you opened an old thread which was last posted by hardwarejunkie last 12-31-2004. (Post #24) Which is almost one year ago...

And as of press time. PcTorque removed their Philips extended warranty as discussed in the thread on Sager Reseller Customer Service-Discountlaptops, PcTorque, Powernotebooks

So If you are discussing Philips warranty, then this thread is no longer applicable and should be archived already...

May I invite you to a more recent thread...

Anyways, enjoy your weekend

Anxiety? I service computers for a living. This was just one of the many issues that I encounter on a daily basis.

The fact of the matter is Phillips warranties are still being purchased to this day, claims are being made, and people still discuss them. Last time I checked this website discusses issues that may or may not pertain to PC Torque; regardless of whether they are still selling a particular product.

There are plenty of recent "Phillips" threads that I could have posted in, including yours. However I chose to comment on hardcore76's post since it contained inaccuracies.

A quick glance and your user title, sig, and the way you keep pointing out your 'customer service' thread in your replies is really odd. Are you that obsessed..........?

Device manager... there is no need to be rude...

Anxiety is something that comes to everyone without exception.
Its a feeling of apprehension, often characterized by feelings of stress.

The fact that you are distressed on your warranty situation is not a reason to dissipate your anger in an odd manner.

Everyone here in the forum is available to help you.
Although people may have a different point of view, It does not mean that they are angry with you, obsessed with you or anything in that line...
Just people having an intelligible conversation in a forum...

I won't take your comment personally. I understand your situation. I don't service computers for a living but let us just say... I service people for a living...

For an explanation to your comment on the user title and as you mention "the pointing to the thread"....

You already have the explanation precisely... that is one way of promoting a link. Some people want to use their home page. Some people want the specs of their computer. Some have their own graphics and design... Some are even more creative than that...

I guess if the user title did make one look below for the Sager Reseller and click the link
and the number of views are increasing, then it worked...

And the thread, If I may add, is trying to get the facts about warranty and customer service straight to the point.
If there are inaccuracies, then the same people who viewed the link can make comments, or suggestions. So far, 3000+ strong have viewed the post and have added to the accuracy of the discussion.

Going back to the Philips warranty.
You are correct... Phillips warranties are still being purchased to this day, claims are being made, and people still discuss them.
You are also correct that there are inaccuracies... partly perhaps because they may have updated their policies or partly perhaps the person was misinformed or got the wrong impression or for other reasons other than that...

Another reason I tried to point out the link I have below is because... the warranty issues both from warrantech, philips, pctorque, and from the manufacturers are discussed there in summary. The warranty discussed includes both the 1 year and the extended warranties. The summary was confirmed by representatives from the reseller's themselves.
As a matter of fact, one summary came from the founder/owner of the company. So ALL are first hand information.

I hope in a way it helped you answer some questions. But if you still have some inquiries, then the forum is open at your will.
