Probably the easiest way is to move data with the base model would be to carry a CAT5/6 crossover cable and use ethernet. Similarly you could use the built-in 802.11b/g wireless if you purchased that option. You could pick up a small bluetooth or you can get a USB Infrared adapter. They also make a USB cable that is a Laplink type cable to connect two computers for file transfer, networking, etc.

I am really interested in this laptop but I haven't seen anything conclusive on the battery life. What kind of battery life does this machine get?

Second, I was wondering if anybody sold this model with bluetooth installed as an option.

Thanks in advance.

Use CAT5 or use WIFI. Why beam. I've only used that infrared port once in my entire life and that is by accident between my laptop and my palm OS ahahah

What's the quality like of the 1280x800 screen? are the colors washed out? does it display nice saturated colours? The specs are great for the cost.

The 259IA3 is a 1680x1050 screen and looks good to me. However, I am not hyper critical of screens, so maybe another owner can chime in. It doesn't offer a 1280x800 resolution. I am not sure that anyone does.

Asus offer the 1280x800...i believe.

I have a Uniwill 259IA with a WXGA screen (1280x800) and I must say I'm quite happy with it. Pictures and text look sharp. Coloring is fine and can be adjusted. I'm using a 15" CTR with my desktop, so the 15.4" widescreen on this laptop is somewhat smaller then I'm used to, but is causing me no troubles reading any 'smallprint'.
I am glad though I didn't go for the WSXGA display. It may be displaying even sharper pictures, but reading any text would become a pain in the eye.

Elck

Hmmm a 15" CRT should be approx 14.1" viewable screen. The 15.4" LCD should be a true 15.4". So in terms of screensize, your laptop should be larger in terms of viewable area.

Dear all

I thought I would like to share my views and thoughts on my newly purchased

ITC Millennia 6200 (UNIWILL 2591A) $3250AUS.. I suppose first the spec

Intel Mobile Pentium 2.00Ghz Dothan 2MB L2 Cache
ATI Mobile Radeon 9700 256meg
Hitachi 60gig 7200rpm
1gig RAM
15.4" Widescreen 1200x800
TV Tuner
4x DVD+/- Burner

The Process of buying this beastly spec'ed laptop

Searched around the internet find a dealer for the ITC..
Came across p4laptops.com.au wouldn't play in the price

Then moved up north to Queesland and came across.. bestdeals4U.com.au
Sent an email.. that day got a response from the sales dep.. hounded to get the sale before Christmas..

Finally got the sale confirmed paid desposit $300 via visa
and sent the cheques and they recieved it 30 Dec 04
(Note.. BD4U state 2-4 Days delivery)

No call back had to call.. Tuesday. spoke with dispatch.. of BD4U and said
it will be there Thursday.. Arrange to have a day off work called up that afternoon.. said there was some probs.. wasnt able to find paperwork.. and said i was going to be another 2-3days..(2weeks so far).. Wasnt going to take that lying down.. Spoke my mind and got it sent down the next day..

Well it only gets better.. from there had my wife stay home to recieve the the laptop..

Well yes it did arrive and arrive it did...
Please see picture

Ok onto the Running and Features of the laptop

Aethetics:

Very nice looking although the touchpad gets in the way of typing

Instant On:

Seems to work ok although they state 3 seconds flat.. I timed it and it was 13 seconds...

Thermal Props:

Well havent had much time to play with it (2 days old).. and coming from a ITC Centris 1400N ..(p4 3.06) is very very quiet.. but like all laptops once heat comes into play the fan kicks in..

Sound:

Well like most laptop speakers.. crap.. just plane crap.. And only hearing 2..
So I going back to ITC to get my other to speakers that itemized in there description..( and Im not going to accept typo or bulls#$t like that)

Performance:

Well got a chance to install FARCRY.. runs to fast a 640x480(makes you dizzy)cranked up to very high settings a slight drop in framerate.. so dropped it down to HIGH setting runs like a treat. no complaning here.
3Dmark2001 at lowest settings 640x480 16bit scores 7601..
and at 1200x800 32bit scored 4061.. I just thinking the omega driver will it do it any justice..

Loaded the omega drivers and doubled although still a little below everyone else

Screen:

Well I was a virgin to the wide screen format.. bottom line not going back to anything lower again

Battery Life:

Well im at down 32% with the wireless lan on.. and running on max performance and at 1hr 47mins 34sec.. Going to try Dachsunds Hare Accelerator and Battery Doubler (mentioned by MYTHIC).. will let you know
But running on my ex ITC 1400N I would have been on power by now..

Finshed runnning it and standard was 2hours 27 mins surfing from go to wo

Wireless:

No probs here with the Netgear WGT624

Conclusion:

From the laptop perspective... very happy so far all bar two things
3dmark results in comparsion to others.. and the fact that

TV Tuner software wasnt supplied
2 speakers instead of 4
ATI graphics was suppose to AGP 8x not 4x

But this can be all turned around on the respose of ITC.. will let you know..

ITC Finally came back after trying to get hold of them.... for a couple of weeks.. As I picked them up about the incorrect information AGAIN.. they were willing to offer a upgrade of laptop .. As I have max'ed out the specs(all bar a couple of things) and wasnt looking for a P4 I had no alternative other than asking for accessories.. so I mentioned 4x to 8x on the DVD. Extra battery, carry case, and remote for the tv tuner... As Im still running off the cracked screen I'm waiting for the new on to arrive next week..

If any one would like a copy of the corrospondense just let me know..

And remember dont let ignorance get the better of you.. Its your money

This is almost the exact spec I was considering from Cyberpowerinc.com for thier s4-3000 model. I am torn between this and the Alienware Area51 5500 extreme notebook. The Alienware is about 450 more dollars. I appreciated your review BTW.
