How do you delete a key? I messed up the type of 'nglayout'.

I would assume click on it and hit the delete button. All in all, all of these setting you are doing utlimately get written back to the system registry. You could always do a regedit and remove it there.

i believe they are held in the chrome folder.. if you have a problem just remove the profile and start again.. make sure you grab your bookmarks.

Actually all these changes are made in the pref.js or user.js file in the "profile folder" <http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit#profile>. The system registry is not touched.

You cannot delete keys from about:config. I had to go to the pref.js and modify (delete) it from there.

corp rollout

I'm interested in a corporate roll-out write-up if you're working on one.

Otherwise, interesting tweaks.

Very cool, I definitely see a difference between this version of Thunderbird and the offical mozilla.org version.

FF seems the same speed, but it was fast to begin with, so no complaints.

Thx for the link.

I'm going to have to be the voice in the wilderness again. I've used the tweaks as suggested and they do seem to improve the performance of Firefox versus un-tweaked Firefox.

However, I still get slowdowns from Firefox that I used to blame on my internet connection, until I switch over to Explorer only to find that pages load just fine.

I have a CPU monitor on my desktop, and every now and again Firefox whacks it up to 100% and stays there.

I love the concept of Firefox. I love tabs. I love the minimization of spyware. I love it not being from Microsoft. Firefox is my default browser. But it just seems that Explorer is faster.

I've had the same impressions over both of my lappies, so I'm at a loss to explain why I am underwhelmed with the speed of Firefox while everyone else seems so impressed.

Cheers

Steve

Speed sacrificed for security. Ever been the victim of an IE hijack or a system shut down only to reinstall the OS?

Besides, give it time and Firefox will improve.

I don't recall anyone saying Firefox's faster than IE.
