Besides, give it time and Firefox will improve.

I don't recall anyone saying Firefox's faster than IE.
I actually do find it faster than IE. Have no clue why, but I've tried loading the same pages with each browser individually and find that to be the case. Oh, and nope, I haven't tweaked firefox to do it.

Firefox is definately faster than IE, especially once you do the pipelining tweaks.

It's also possible to tweak IE to do the same... although it's much harder (registry tweaks)
Either way, Firefox has more security... and for that reason alone, I use it.

Just curious
If this settings really speed up the firefox, why it didn't become the default setting of the firefox? What is the down side of this settings?

Making Firefox faster

I made the about:config changes suggested above. WOW! big difference. My cable network access is now so much faster. Thanks guys, this forum is invaluable to me.

open regedit
go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

add these:
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server
MaxConnectionsPerServer

and make them 10, 20, whatever.

there are drawbacks to this tweak.

i saw this tweak somewhere else a long time ago, but forgot where. i did a search on google for the tweak, and saw that ppl posted that sometimes images dont load up properly. just a fyi
