Asus M6NBe vs. Fujitsu S7010D

I have been looking for my first laptop for about a month and it boils down to two choices --- Asus M6NBe & Fujitsu S7010D. I know I'm kinda comparing apples and organes here, but I really hope you guys can give me some advice. I'm really torn between which one to get

This laptop should last for remaining 2 years of my college life. I will not be playing any resource-demanding games like Unreal 2004, Doom 3 because I have a pretty decent desktop already.

So I guess it really comes down to Asus bigger screen with higher resolution vs. Fujitsu smaller screen lower resolution. Whether the bigger screen of Asus is worth for me carrying 2.4lbs more everyday.

Usage:
Lots of word processing and Excel work and Surfing the web
Lots of audio editing (my job)
Presentation for both school and job

Asus:
Pentium M Dothan 1.6Ghz, 15.4 WXGA, 512MB, Samsung 40GB 5400rpm, ATI9700 mobile
*6.5lbs
13.9" x 10.9" x 1.3-1.5"

Fujitsu S7010D
Pentium M Dothan 1.6Ghz, 14.1 XGA w/ CrystalView 1024x768, 512MB, 40GB 5400rpm, intergrated graphics
*4.0lbs
12.04" x 9.72" x 1.04"-1.29"

I could provide more info of my usage and preference if needed
Your opinion is really really appreciated!

Go with Asus!

I'd recommend ASUS... but if you're going to carry it around A LOT... then the Fujitsu will be better (for your health )

Thanks for the quick replies.

Since this is my first laptop, I have no clue whether lugging a 6.5lb laptop is a pain in the butt. My daily routine to school is that I drive and park at a parkage. Then, walk about 8 mins to my faculty's building. After that, I bring my laptop to classes and between classes I will be using it in the library. So is that a lot of travelling distance? Not really, but I do it to move it around from here to there

By the way, Is it hard to find bag that can carry a 15.4" laptop, plus a textbook?
Cus for the Fujitsu, due to its small size, I can fit it into my backpack with no problem. For the Asus, I will for sure need to buy a new backpack.

I've seen both last week, and they're both very very nice laptops (and both look great).
But I think you're right with apples and oranges: The Asus is much bigger, although the specs don't show that much difference.
The Fujitsu is very light compared to the normal 3kg laptops. I think carrying it around will be a pleasure.
Biggest pro Asus:
-External Graphic Card (but I think for your usage also the integrated card in the fujitsu would be ok)
For games the Asus clearly wins the match

-WXGA over XGA
Offers a litte more screen estate.
For the display quality I think both will be good. The Asus I saw had a good display. For the S7010 I only saw one with non-cv display (seems that cv isn't avaible for s7010 here), and it was quite good. So I think the cv should be great.

Pro S7010:
Dimensions

A very interesting thing would be, if you could get the s7010 with the SXGA+ screen (if thats avaiable where you live and if you can afford).
More Desktop space than on the Asus in a much slimmer pc. But then you must consider that fonts will be very small on the 1400x1050 14" screen.

For your configuration examples: I would go with at least 512mb Ram on both.

madtrix: thanks for the comparison

I think the biggest problem that I have never own a laptop before and so I don't know if lugging a 6.5lb laptop to school everyday would be a pain. I am not particularly strong either
I'd love to have larger screen estate so the WXGA on the Asus is definitely the biggest plus for me and like you said, the ATI9700 on the Asus doesn't really matter for me since I am not donig a lot of gaming on this machine.

As for the SXGA+ on a S7010, I am afraid that the fonts will be too small that it will be hard on the eyes since I will be doing a lot of word and excel work.

I guess, maybe I should borrow a laptop from a friend to lug it around to see if I can handle the 6.5lb

Please get another 256 of ram in there, it takes 256 just to make windows xp happy

I don't really notice the weight of the Asus in my bookbag. Until Shinza finally gets me my sleeve, i can fit the asus laptop case (with the laptop in it) into my regular size Sierra backpack, it is a tight fit because of the big laptop case.

As suggested, I have changed the spec to 512MB
