My cousin has just given me his laptop to sort out.
Pressing the power button gives a brief start of the system fan and you can hear the hard drive starting up. then the leds go out and the sysstem dies.
I tested his ac adaptor which has an output of 20v 3a, as his battery was dead, whilst this gave an led power light on the adaptor a voltage test gave a variable reading none of which approached double figures and went to zero within a second.
my laptop ac adaptor is 19.6v 3a , so I tried this on his laptop .Immediately the battery charging led started flashing.
I left this on until it had charged the battery, but I am still getting the same result of the system trying to boot far a few seconds and the shutting down.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks
Alan
