New Dell M60 - Page 5

Based on past evidence (Sager has usually had an upgrade program for their computers) and my own knowledge of computers (Apparently the initial Prescotts will use the 478 (I think it's 478 or some number like that) pin design, just like the P4 uses) I believe that the upgradability of the new Sager models will be quite high. You cannot argue with the raw power of a desktop chip, even if battery life is pretty low. Like someone said, different strokes for different folks.

Got my M60 today, 6 days after I paid for it! It's very fast and running great. I fixed the scaling icons and scaling internet explorer images as hrana explained, however the icons still appear jaggy in the Alt-Tab menu. Everywhere else they look fine. Any ideas as how to fix this?

Hi Loki, I read somewhere in these forums that when Dell hits the "boxing stage" it means they're shipping your computer from Malaysia. Not sure if this is truthful or reliable information. Have you tried contacting your sales person?

I'm absolutely stunned by the support I got this time. When we ordered the LCD last month it took nearly 20 days, and they said 5 working days. This time, they said 7 working days and it took them only 6 days! I didn't believe them when they said my computer would be here today, but sure enough it got here perfectly on time.

My first impression of the system is that it looks very professional, much more so than any other laptop I've previously had. The screen is wonderful and the speed is just a massive improvement over my previous laptop (which was a 2ghz p4, 512 megs of ram, but only 4500 rpm harddisk). I really notice the faster harddisk, it boots up really fast and programs open almost twice as fast as they did on my old laptop. I don't have all my programs installed yet, but I did play around with Discreet Combustion and the quadro card handled it very well. I also ran a maxed out version of quake2 I had lying around (with pixel shaders and all sorts of new effects, looks really nice) at 1600x1200 and I was getting 120 frames per second.

I got the modular battery and I'm running my cdrw/dvd drive from the d-bay. With one battery at 100% and the other at 99% I've got 6 hours and 15 minutes of battery left. Full brightness. Tried playing a DVD, looks great. The screen is so clear that I can actually see the compression of the DVD. I'm really pleased, can't wait to get all my programs installed

I'm happy that you like your laptop. Could you do me two huge favors?

Could you look on your packing slip that came with your laptop and give me the "Item Number" and "Part Number" for the modular battery, D/Bay, and your 7200 rpm hard drive?

I need to order those and you would be helping me out a lot by doing that.

Sure, but I only see Item Number... there's no Part Number.

Any idea how to solve the Alt-Tab issue?

neurowave, i know mine should be here anyday, but can you take some pictures of yours if you can?

Alt-tab? I don't have that problem so I am going to guess. Do you have an icon in your system tray that is called "Dell Quickset"? If so, try clicking (not sure if its right or left) but look for icon sizes and change it to normal.
