I just got my Fujitsu N6010 yesterday. Here are the "main" specs:
- Intel Mobile 538 P4 3.2GHz
- 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache, Supports Hyper-Threading technology
- 1GB DDR 333 Dual Channel (2GB Max)
- ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON™ 9700 with 128MB of dedicated video memory
- 17" Crystal View WXGA+ TFT (1440 x 900) Display (Super Vivid Diplay 400:1 Contrast Ratio)
- 100GB ultra-DMA 100 (4200RPM)
- Multi-format DVD +/- writer Drive
- 60GB 7200rpm harddrive
I totally LOVED the N5010 i had been using since May, but thought of having a 17" version of Fujitsu's Crystal View technology was simply too tempting!
I'm not a "gamer", and will be using this computer primarily at work (GIS, statistical analysis, database stuff) and for photo editing.
I haven't had the opportunity to truly put the unit to test yet, but here are my initial thoughts, along with some photos.
Looks: This is truly one sexy machine. At first, i was skeptical about the off-white and silver color scheme. I really loved the silver/gray and black layout on the N5010. But after seeing the N6010 in person, i must say that the color scheme is awesome! As you can see in the picture, the power button on the top right glows blue while the unit is on, which i think looks really cool. In addition, on the front panel (inbetween the speakers) are situation various indicators, including battery, AC power, charging, etc. These glow blue or green. I personally like these colors, but i could see how some people might find them somewhat cheezy.
Build Quality: As soon as i took the unit out of the box, i could feel just how solidly it was built. Sure, it feels heavy, but heavy doesn't necessarily equate to quality or sturdiness. The entire top casing around the keyboard, as well as the outer cover appear to be some sort of alloy (magnesium?), and all of the multimedia buttons feel solid as well. I've seen and picked up other 17" laptops in bestbuy and circuit city (hp, toshiba, sony), and to me fujitsu seems to be tops in terms of overall build quality (though, i haven't seen the toshiba qosmio or the new hp zd8000).
Touchpad: Compared to the N5010, the touchpad on the N6010 seems more responive to me. In addition, the left and right-click and scroll buttons feel sturdier.
Screen: I was skeptical about the WXGA+ resolution, especially considering i was using SXGA+ (1400x1050) on the N5010. But after working in excel for a bit last night and today, it seems that the WXGA+ will be just fine. And, of course, how could i not mention the Crystal View Screen? It's amazing. While i've seen other companies' glossy screens, including xbright, trubrighht, brightview, etc., to my eyes the fujitsu's CV outshines and stands out from the rest of the pack. Maybe, as i've read on other posts, it's because the CV screen isn't too glossy to the point of excess where it can start giving people headaches. But, of course, to each his/her own.
Keyboard: As i sit here typing all of this out, I can't stop thinking about how great this keyboard feels. I feel no keyboard flex, and it just feels "nice" typing on this puppy. And, i STILL can't believe that i have a laptop with a built-in numeric keypad! Finally, i've used the Fujitsu's N5010 and S6210 in the past, and i can't even BEGIN to tell you how satisfying it is that fujitsu FINALLY provided independent "home" and "end" keys. i just HATED having to use "home" and "end" via function keys!!!!
I'm not sure if there are any loyal or potential fujitsu users on this forum, but for anyone out there who has been looking at or even considering buying a N6010, hopefully all of this has proved useful. And, of course, if anyone has specific q's about the unit, just lemme know!

... AHHH screen.. especially keyboard.. beautiful. Why isnt there a fujitsu or vaio with both a 128 vram gpu or better and pentium M !! It sucks ! Cant have sexy and usefullness/performance together
