Ordering: Cyberpower had more options on menus and alot more freindly on the phone. I know they are supposed to be the same company, but they so have different options on the order menus, for instance adding games for 6 bucks. I called each one because on my order I need to split the payments on 2 credit cards, IBP had a person who could barely talk english, but CP communicated well and told me to just add the other cc number in the comments section and it would work, it did. I also got a call the next day verifying it would take awhile to custom paint it. A++ for the ordering process.
Shipment time: Not too bad, they actual shipped it sooner than expected, and it was during the holiday season. Maybe they should keep more stock painted units in.
Shipment: Packed very well, it actually came in 4 boxes, not the three, I forgot about a very small skinny one I had taken to my bedroom.
First boot: Excellent, booted right into WinXP setup to input my name etc. I like it when comp companies let us decide that.
Software: Everything there and organized well.
Instructions:This is a poor rating I feel, no booklet on my ports or anything.
I had to go to uniwill.com to verify some of them.
Heat: Not as bad as some reviews I've seen. Expected worse. It did get a little warm playing Generals on my coffee table last night, but I played for 3 hours watching tv. It's been on, battery only, for about 3 hours now , working on excel spreadsheets and it is cool as can be. the botom left is the warmest of the laptop.
Battery power: Scared me at first, it lasted about 2 hours the first time, but I installed about 10 cd's and played on level of Generals. 3 hours so far tonight and 40% left, but it hibernated while I took a bath. If I fly on a long trip, I may have to get another battery though. But thats ok with me, sacrifice batt time for CPU power and Video power.
Keyboard and mouse pad: these are freaking excellent, very large keys and wide, the mouse pad is nice, the scroll part on the right side is very sensitive
You can tap the mouse pad and it is a double click, cool
Games: Plays C and C Generals very well, Flight Sim well, have not installed HL2 yet
Disk Burning: Burned a CDR pretty fast, played a home made DVD no problems
I have not found a Direct CDRW option though, it wanted me to format it and then write the files back to it,but that cd came from our sleep lab and they are a bit funny sometimes, I'll try a brand new one.
And like I mentioned earlier, the power cord is too close to the cd om when it is opened, sort of awkward,
Sound: speakers are ok, took me awhile to find out how to increase and decrease volume, function and f5 and f6,
Notebook case: not so well, no room for power pack, makes a bulge, of course i can get a better one for under 50 ,
all for now
