Choppy DVD playback

Thread Starter
The computer's almost 9 months old now and this is the first notable problem I've had. Specs are the P4 3.0C, 1 gig RAM, Radeon 9700 mobile, 60 gig 7200 rpm drive, and Samsung SN-324F combo drive.

I'm having troubles with all DVD's I've tried. Both video and audio is choppy like the drive isn't spinning fast enough. I'm playing an audio CD right now and it seems to be working fine. The DVD is choppy when using either Windows Media or the InterVideo WinDVD program. I already tried uninstalling the drive in device manager, powering down, and restarting. It installed it back fine but the same issues persist. Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem here too but I solved it

Might work for you on your system, though not sure because you say your DVD playback is 'lagging' using either Windows Media Player and InterVideo WinDVD. I had 'lagging' playing DVD's on my system using Windows Media Player--I found that disabling 'uncheck' the 'Use Overlays' found in the 'Video Acceleration' setting in the 'Video Acceleration Settings' did the trick--now playback is superb.
