inspiron 8600 graphics upgrade from D800 or M60?

Thread Starter
I just got an i8600 with 64mb fx5200 graphics. I've decided that it'd like to upgrade. I know that the 128mb ati 9600 is an option, but I prefer NVidia (better linux support, I am dual booting gentoo and XP).

I am wondering if anyone has any experience installing a D800 or M60 graphics card in an 8600. Specifically I am talking about the fx5650, quadro 700 and quadro 1000. It seems like it would be possible, since I think that all three machines have identical motherboards. Perhaps a bios update would be needed?

Also, does anyone have experience buying graphics cards from dell. Are they cooperative? Do i need a part number (does anyone have the part numbers?).

thanks,
Steve

I'd like to know the same thing...I want to know if I can still order the FX Go5650 from Dell Spare Parts, even though it's only for the D800 now (I have an 8600). I know the MR9600 performs better but I have an MR9700 in my 9100, so I'd like a higher end nvidia card this time. And since I have an 8600, will they sell it to me, even?
