Random shutdowns on 9860 :-(

After I ordered my 9860, I started to notice more and more people popping up with problems on the forums here and I started to get nervous. So I was pretty relieved when everything seemed to go fine with mine. However after my comp is up and running for a while it has started to randomly just shut off.. almost like you'd expect if it was overheating. The left front under my wrist does indeed get pretty hot. If I put my hand on the underside of the laptop in that left front area it is actually a bit uncomfortable it's so hot.. Is this normal? Could I be overheating just surfing the web?

Sounds like a Sager. These are powerful machines, too powerful really because they haven't addressed heat issues well enough. I have a 4780 that gets video corruption when it runs too hot. I sent it in but they didn't solve the problem.

I recommend looking for a laptop cooler...or if you want to put up with the pain, RMA it, which may or may not solve your issues.

1. Which CPU do you have ?
2. How long have you had it ?
3. Which Reseller did you use ?

1. 3.4Ghz
2. One day
3. PCTorque

I don't think it's the CPU or hard drive overheating.. I installed MobileMonitor and the CPU never went over 60C and the HD never went over 48. Could be the GPU but for some reason the Nvidia drivers I have installed do not have a temp monitor like i"m used to seeing.

Also, I'm not sure how this ended up in the reviews seciton, I thought I put it under Sager General, so if a mod could move it that'd be great.

I would keep it on and see if it keeps happening. If it does then you need to contact Sager support by email this weekend and call them on Monday. Is this happening while you are in the middle of something or has it shut down while you were away from it ? Make sure you Power Options are not set to shut down in 5min for example.

It dosent matter how powerful of a macine it is it should not be having these problems. My friend has the same notebook and his does not do that I would just send that sucker back or rma it to get it fixed.
