Hmmm I just don't see the need for such fast HDs in a notebook, I also think it's going to get REALLY! hot, and it makes me mad that Sagers top of the line notebook doesn't have a great screen.
I also think the TV tuner not really that great same for the MP3 player.

hey

i want the quick hd's because this is going to be my desktop replacement and i know the tv tuner and mp3 arent that great but i think theyre just cool little things to tinker with and the low res screen shouldnt bother me at all i run 1152*864 on my desktop and love it so i shoud have no probs and the weight wont bother me either

I think the last poll of this type was simply post a response. Using the actual poll mechanism makes more sense; perhaps this poll can be actually indicitive of what PCTorque might be facing on Release Day.

I also plan on gettin a maxed out 8890. I like all the little extra bells and whisles that I can get with it. (tv turner mp3 player) Also to my knowledge, everything you can get for the 5780 will be avalible on the 8890, and then some(With the exclusion of the uxga screen of course). And I cannot really see any downpoints to the 8890. Weght or battery life isnt a problem for a desktop replacment. And I was planing to get the sxga screen anyway.

Excess is the need.
The lapptop p4 will never get as hot as a desktop p4 unless there is somthing wrong with it.
Also Sagers top of the line notebook dose have a great screen. Just not the one you want. Adam said somewhere(cant remeber what thread) that the 16"sxga is the second best laptop screen he has ever seen. And the first wasnt any of the 5679 screens.

I just don't get people thinking that the SXGA screen is going to be bettter then the UXGA screen

SXGA = no ghosting: UXGA= ghosting. Biggest reason right there.

Also, you think an M10p will power 1600x1200 with all antialiasing set to the highest? What about 1280x1024?

Not only that, some people think SXGA is easier to read than 1600x1200. All depends on your eyesight.

Sorry to trash your dreams, but you cannot even get a maxed out 5670 for slightly over 2000. I believe if you want it maxed out you would be looking at about $3200 or $3300
post #13 of 88
What about a maxed out 8890?
A maxed out 8890 would cost even more then a maxed out 5680.
I did a price comparison between the two models... it came out only a difference of 100 bucks... did I calculate wrong somehow? That was such a small amount, I was like, that bigger screen size alone is worth that.

8890 FOR ME!!!

Finally, a true desktop replacement.
RAID RULES!!!
I would like to get the 8890 but i need the extra battery power of the 5680.
MAX specs (i speced out both at pc torque)
Yeah I see what you mean
Credit Price
5670-$2236.00
8887-$2362.00
There is ghosting on the UXGAs?! This is seriously alarming for me, can anybody confirm this?
atremis, they are referring to the old 16.1 " uxga. And to defend my price guess that I had made earlier,,,,,, If you take into account 2 1 GB ddr400 ram sticks, 2 60gb 7200 rpm hard drives you already got almost $2500. I believe the ram is what will cost ya. PLus the 3.2 ghz processor will cost a pretty penny as well. You would be better off settling for 1gb ram for now. and with the 8890 if you want the raid option I would also suggest settling for 2 40 gb 5400 rpm hard drives. They will still operate quite quickly and you will save loads of money since 60gb 7200rpm is far more expensive than 40gb 5400rpm.
