New Sager Laptops In Time for College?

Ok, here's my situation. I live in Louisiana. I'm going to college in Rochester, NY. I'm flying there on August the 29th. I need a rockin laptop by the 28th. I was planning on getting one of the new Alienwares, simply because of its ability to be upgraded. But now that it looks like those are going to arrive way too late for my needs, Sager is looking really nice. I want one of the new laptops with the ATI 9600. Will I be able to have one in my hands by the 28th, or should I just order one of the older models? Thanks!

Not to be mean...but I wouldn't hold your breath. The sager and new alienware laptops arn't even due to start ordering until the end of august into early september. Sorry dude.

I don't know where you get your information, reaper, but Adam has stated clearly that he expects preorders for the 8890 to begin on the 8th-9th of August, and that he expects to ship on the 14th-15th. Generally, ship times for Sager are 2-3 days + whatever UPS shipping you choose. You should be able to get the 8890 or even the 5680 if nothing changes.

What college in Rochester? I currently live in Rochester and I will be going to college at Rochester Institute of Technology. I believe someone else in this forums is also going there as well.

I have read that, several times. I've never gotten a sager before, and wanted to make sure with their shipping times and stuff. I've heard that if you order an alienware, it takes them 3-4 weeks to ship it. I wanted to make sure Sager wasnt the same way.

I'm in the same exact situation as you jmbot. I leave the 29th and I really want the new Sager too. I think people leaving for college should get priority

i believe some people have said its usaully a couple days to build and then about a week to ship. I believe it is faster than alienware from what I have hear.Jmbothfsh Ill have to talk to you on aim sometime, its funny how at least 3 people on forums all going to same college.

If all else fails, ask the mail room people if they can accept larger packages and have the Sager shipped to you directly. Another thing you could do would be to befriend someone who is commuting or lives close and would be willing to recieve it for you.

you aren't leaving until the 29th and start orientation? That's pretty late. I'm leaving on the 22nd to go to college and our classes start the 27th.

yep, gotta love RIT! move in on the 31st, relax for a full week before classes begin...get to know the campus, etc. play lots of games on my new sager lappie!
