Why does HL2 look like this on my 9860?

Looks like your gamma/brightness is turned way the hell up

Contrast could use a bit of adjusting as well.

HL2 is the only game that looks like this. Adjusting contrast and brightness is not changing anything.

When first ran, Half-Life 2 had problems on my computer too. I exited the game and started it back up a few minutes later and it runs great!

I would reinstall the game, looks like there are corrupted files with the errors from the stress test.

I got it.

I was using omega drivers.
I rolled back to sager drivers. HL2 works now, but i get blue lines on water edges.

Latest Omega drivers are too outdated to run the latest games.

Where are you testing this? There are just a few areas where those blue lines show up for me (using 9700 Pro). I don't think it's a glitch either. The sewers around the canals early in the game, for instance, have hard edges between the water and land...and those edges look like blue cracks in the polys. Very minor, but noticible. Most of the water does not have this problem...
