Impressive but seems the bios is a bit off... 865 desktops running stock speeds get around 4600 in mem scores on sandra. Adam you know what the SPD's are of the memory? Betting 8-4-4-3. The big diff here is the vid card and the dual channel, CPU diff's are really non detectable in real world apps. FWIW, my desktop in the sig gets over 6K in sandra Mem benchies...

I don't know the mem settings. I'm sure it's hard coded and may be something Sandra will pick up.

vanfanel, I'm not sure about your questions, but will have more info when we get the demo models in.

Adam,

i don't know if CPUZ would pick these up on a laptop or not ... you might check though.

this is what i thought too... still nice to see the numbers that this notebook puts out because they are no slouch at all! But, under regulard day-to-day, real-world work ... the cpu scores look great but probably don't mean that much when doing web, e-mail, document creation etc...

Still ... I would love to have an 8890 ... i think it might be too pricey for me though. Have to wait and see.

It is a good thing they are getting it right before releaseing the laptops, and I love all the work they are putting into them, but c'mon already, I started class in July and still have yet to get a laptop!!!! hurry up cause I don't have much more time before winter classes start and I HAVE to have a laptop by then, even if it is a dell.

Some places put their pre-ordering up before others and it has nothing to do with the ship time.

Re: Re: eurocom

I think the big thing here is not so much the ship time as being able to see how much it will cost. I know that I, and I guess others, like to know as early as possible how many paychecks we are going to have to reserve to get our new toys

Any chance this info is going to be forthcoming - preferably soon.

Yes, have you read this update?

It seems like you've been around here long enough to know that Adam posts the major info in the news updates as soon as he knows it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: eurocom

So what you are telling me is that with 1 week to go till they start taking orders - they don't know what the price is?

Geez guys, when they know the price they'll start taking orders.
that's like tomorrow...
the only reason the others take them earlier is that the actual price doesn't matter when the margin is huge.

No, I'm saying that if it made business sense (and sense every other way) to post the prices before making the machines available for pre-order, then Adam would post them.

If I had a business, I wouldn't post prices for something before I was ready to take (pre)-orders. I'm not sure that makes sense.

Like I said - bollocks to the order taking - Its just the price I am after for both the 5680 and the 8890.

Curious, what was the resolution and color depth settings for the 3dMark scores?

You'd lose that bet.

Transcend seems to be the only company making DDR400 SODIMMs at the moment.

The latency of said memory is 2.5-3-3 or 3-3-3, depending on the exact SODIMM. Don't know what the tRAS delay is, very few manufacturers list it for their memory.
