wireless or "laptop mice" for gaming

so are there any wireless(non-bluetooth) mice that are decent for gaming? How about those smaller "laptop mice" , are they any good? I'm looking for something to carry around, wireless would be nice because of less clutter but I've had bad experiences with wireless gaming. I've also seen a lot of those smaller mice lately but don't know if those would be very comfortable. Anybody have experiences with either?

logitech mx510

I purchased one of the smaller laptop mice and went back to the standard sized mouse. The laptop mouse was just too small for my hand to be compftable and within a few hours of gaming the left click started double clicking every now and then on a single click.

It was a Targus USB laptop mouse.

Personally, I think the only worthy gaming wireless mouse are the MX series from logitech. It has an excelent engine. Unfortunately, the last time I checked, they didn't have the MX engine available for the laptop mice.

I think a wired laptop mouse would do just fine. I personally purchased the Logitech Notebook Optical Mouse Plus. It's perfect for mobility as the cord winds around the base of the mouse. As it is wired, no lag at all. The cord is short... obviously cuz u'll b right next to a usb port, so no dangling wire.

I searched what seems like forever to find a Mobile gaming mouse (wired)without any luck. I just decided on the Logitech Notebook Plus, like the others said, the cord winds up nicely and the precision is great. I have a Logitech MX510 for my desktop but it is way too big for travel. If you have the room I would definetely go for the MX510, it is the best gaming mouse I have ever used, the extra buttons really come in handy. Otherwise, stick to wired for guaranteed compatability and ease of use.

If you are looking to play any FPS you should seriously think of investing in a game pad. I routinely play FPS daily and have found it much easier to use the game pad vice trying to use the keyboard. Here's a link to the one I use. If you look around you'll find nothing but great things that are said about the game pad--guaranteed once you get used to one you'll never use your keyboard to play games again!!!

The Wireless MX700 is what I have.

MX510 for me...no, it is not wireless.

I had a mx700, and mx1000--both great mice, but the extra headache of carrying the rechargable/receiver unit just isn't worth the headache. Wireless mice and laptops just don't make sense unless you never move your laptop, and if you never move your laptop, why do people pay twice as much for half the machine?

People confuse me.

well be careful with short cords on mice if you use the 9860 since the designer obviously believes everybody is left handed - all usb ports on the left

I used the Logitech Cordless Mouse for Notebooks for about a year before I got my MX900, and it served me well. It's bigger than traditional laptop mice, and is well-designed without any of the excessive bells and whistles. I wouldn't have switched from it if it wasn't for the fact that I wanted to use my internal bluetooth for something, heh heh.

I hear that the MX1000 is a great wireless mouse. New laser technology. I plan on getting one shortly (if not for christmas).

As for people who don't understand getting a wireless mouse for laptops (ahem, gerryf), I do move my laptop around with me a lot, and when I do it's going to classes with me so it's usually on a desk. I like the idea of the laptop mice, but I hate the small size, they don't fit in my hand well. And if I'm going to buy one mouse for on the go, I might as well get a better one for on the go and at home, which is why I wanted a wireless mouse that had both a rechargeable base along with a mini-receiver, but alas, I couldn't find one.

But back to the topic at hand, the MX1000 has the new Laser Technology which supposedly tracks much much better than even the MX Optical Engine.

Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse 2.0 (leather) $59.00

I love this mouse!! The batteries last forever! My first set went for 7 months before being replaced. When travelling I pull out the batteries. This is a full size mouse with all the bells and whistles. It is USB and the receiver is almost as big as the mouse but when you are hauling around 15 Pounds worth of laptop who cares!!

hahaha, true for you ppl w/ the 9860, but for us 3790, mobility is absolutely still an option.

I'm waiting on the mx1000 right now, as soon as they come out with a combo pack with the mx1000 and a wireless keyboard i'm getting it. Every review i've read of it says it basically owns. And I tried it out at bestbuy and it feels great in my hand, better even than the 510 and way better than the MS wireless mice
