HL2 performance and the go5700

Anyone out there have any benchmarks with the GeForce 5700 and Half-Life 2?

And possibly some other benchmarks. Show me that this card isn't all that bad.

And a Specview performance benchmark would be icing on the cake.

I know the Ati's perform better because of the 24bit precision in HL2 but I have always disliked Ati and want to go back to NV. I can't afford a Quadro at the moment, so I might be inclined to trade for a 5700.

If the benchmarks prove to be a decent medium between game and dev performamce (i.e. Solidworks, C4D, RHINO, 3dsMax) then I'd be more inclined.

Someone post some benchmarks and convince me to make a trade. . .

Or should I lay off the crack pipe?

I have both the 5700 and 9700,I cant see the difference between the two, while playing HL2.They both look great, but the 9700 would freeze the game after 30 min. or so,and the screen looks washed out too. Where the 5700 I could play for hours with no problem and the color is more vibrant. The Nvidia drivers have a temperature setting where you could monitor the gpu core thats a plus. I've switched back to the 5700 the 9700 was just to unstable, and I tried everything to make it work with out freezing up. 3dmark03 score with the 9700 and 8.05 drivers was 3385. with the 5700go and the 62.20 drivers is 3105-->overclocked with coolbits my score is 3218 with the gpu clocked at 375 and mem at 610. I could go more because it runs really cool. mine is the same specs as yours but I have 15.4 screen 766

yeah the samsung is fine, low latency memory is good if you overclock, but you really cant overclock with a laptop. atleast not any more than you could with regular ram. save your money!

So I guess my current question is trading down to a 5700 worth it?

From a DEV standpoint I would think so. But trading a 9700 for a supposed lesser card.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. . . To each, his own

if the go5700 is anything like the desktop 5700's or the GF5 series in general, then I say no.

K[H]eMiKaL has a Geforce Go FX5700, PM him. His is all tweaked out, and I think he plays at 1680x1050 and it's smooth. (HE IS GOD!!!) That's what I'm going to do when I get a 5500. (I hope the widescreen dosen't make eveyone in Morrowind look fat)

GO BUCKS!!!!

I heared they put Zwick back in, god that guy can't throw...

Not only is it pointless, the A51m766 will not run at the latency of the XMS ram.
supposed to be 2.5-3-3-6 but runs at 2.5-4-4-6
It is faster than my PC2700 ram but equal to, not better than, standard PC3200 ram.
I played HL2 with both the 5700 and 9700. Both worked well.

Also on a side note,

Is it possible to buy optical drives from AW? I'm looking to upgrade possibly to a DVD-R.
