Compaq noyebook question...

My sister-in-law has a Compaq notebook. She does not currently have an internal wireless card or PCMCIA insert card. Nor does she have a wireless router.

Can I make this computer wireless by buying a wireless router and PCMCIA card? Is it that simple? Are PCMCIA cards proprietary (i.e. do I need a specific model for her brand of notebook)?

Thank to all... I am thinking of this as a Christmas gift.

As long as she has a broadband connection she should be ready to go. I’m using the Linksys with speedboster technology and have been happy with it, but no specific brand it needed.
